    OT: The Weather.

    How's everyone's weather going?

We had a couple of tornado touch downs here in my neck of the woods,
yesterday. Not in my backyard, but close enough to scare the bejeebies
out of me. Our local weather station loves to do that. You know, pre
-emp all of your fav shows, to keep you up all night, in a frenzied trance.

There has been much bad weather out there. Are you all OK? So far the
    Lord has kept me safe.

So hows it been in your backyard?
    Love, Sally

I hate to admit this........... It has been in the mid to upper 70's. Enough rain to keep us where we need to be. Now if it does not get any warmer.

Overcast and rainy until next week but no tornadoes. I grew up in an area where there were tornado warnings on a regular basis.

I prefer living where I live now, with cooler weather but little danger from violent storms.

99 degrees right now here. It's 97 at bro's house at the beach . . . very unusual. Fires burning all over in S. CA. Wind not helping and no humidity. Fire danger is very, very high!

Yes, I should have included fires in my question.
Are the fires getting close to you Nuthatch?

            Stay safe everyone.

Yesterday it was 91' here, a record high. Today it was a bit cooler but still pretty warm--upper 80s, I think. Heat whips me. Trying not to use the air conditioning, and here on the north side of the building it hasn't been bad. Just running fans.

I get up fairly early and open up all windows and the door, then close things off in the mid-afternoon to keep the heat of the day on the outside. Then in the evening I open it all up again if it's cooling off, and luckily here in the Pacific Northwest we don't usually get the hot nights I remember in the midwest.

I'm very lucky to be able to live in this climate.

I'm not anywhere near the fires. Moved away from southern CA years ago, but some of my relatives are near the fire areas. Drought conditions, high temps and wind are a scary mix! We had to evacuate once in the middle of the night under the same conditions, when our kids were small. Many homes were lost . . . a feeling of helplessness I never wish to experience again!

I really don't know how some of you deal with tornados and hurricanes. It's been a bad year weather wise so far!

Can't blame you at all for that, Sally. I would have done it 20 degrees sooner!

It's been warm in my corner of the world....

We've had temps in the upper 70s, 75 miles south of us, Seattle, has had temps in the 80s. My older boys, who live closer to Oregon in SW Washington has seen temps in the mid-80s. There have been at least 3 tornado sightings in western Washington already, where we usually only average 1 per year.

We've also had lots of rain here, 10 months worth in the first 4 months. I'm glad it's mostly dried out, though the newest batch of rain showers are predicted to start this weekend. I'll just hide inside.

Have you seen what happened in the Balkans? They had several months worth of rain in 40 hours! Major flooding.

So many places experiencing excessive precipitation. Yet there are places in drought.

It is warm, the days are long and light.
Even when it rains I feel like the world is more full of possibility.

If it starts raining frogs, I'll be worried.

                            And you, Howie?
