Adipose Stem Cell Study for MS

StemGenex emailed me the other day to notify me that they are recruiting 100 people with worsening MS to undergo adipose stem cell treatment and study the results of the treatment. They have posted this on Only registered and activated users can see links., Click Here To Register... . Now, I have always thought that anything posted there was at no cost to the trial participant...the company doing the trial pays for med or treatment and often compensates the participant for travel and time. This group, however, is charging each person with MS an average of $12,000-$14,000 to go to either California or Florida to a clinic for treatment. The participant is responsible for transportation, lodging food and the treatment itself with no compensation.

Thanks Cherie, for posting this information. Not sure if this is the same procedure that Peg had or not. Think I will have to pass - a little over my budget unless they can give more and better results.

I wonder if this is what Richard Cohen (Meredith Viera's) husband had done. Well, actually they went into his chest I think to take the blood to get the stem cells. He had to wait a number of months before they inserted the stem cells. I don't know why it took so long, but I listened (on the internet) to him tell about it. I have been reading his blog while I was away from here. He has a dry sense of humor that I like. They could afford to pay for whatever they want to do, however this was being done through a study so I am sure they were not paying.

Richard Cohen seems to have had mesenchymal stem cells as part of a different clinical trial. This one Cherie has described is just in the recruiting stage, I think, and uses a different type of stem cell.
