:) Happy Thanksgiving! I just got home from the Thanksgiving service at my son's church. My other son went with me. We will all be together tomorrow for dinner at two. I paid for the food so I don't have to do any cooking.
I am so grateful for my sons, their wives and my grandson. I am thankful to know all of you and for this board. I hope you all stay warm and safe and have a good day. Jeanie :)
Happy Thanksgiving to all of you. The turkey carcass is cooling so I can pull the rest of the meat off and add it to the broth. Leftovers are in the fridge and gone with the girls. Dishes are done. Linens are in the dryer. David has felt under the weather all day and our youngest grandchild was not up to par today...both with diarrhea and no appetite. Friends could not make it here from Maine due to medical emergency but may still make it sometime this weekend. I have a LOT of pie especially left over. Anyone hungry?
Me hungry too! I had a TV dinner. Spent the day alone today. Did not even talk once on the phone. It has been alright. I just tried not to think about it being Thanksgiving, accept to say thanks for the things that counted for me today - such as you folks.
My Thanksgiving day turned out wonderful, when DD Julie, brought my
Grands- Myah, Olivia, Johnny, AJ, Kayla and GGD Elliana over. Not to
mention, a scrumptously delicious TG Dinner. Took me 2 days to eat
it, but I polished it off today!! Yummy.
Love, Sally

Virginia and others, since MS came along, most of my Thanksgivings have been spent alone. It just worked out that way, as most of my family have been too far away.
Travel isn't something I can do easily. I would reach my destination but not be good for much at all, and would be mostly a zombie.
When MS became a problem for me, I had been working at home as a freelance translator for several years, and friends and colleagues in the world of work were remote.
I'm still in touch with a couple of people I used to teach with though they're thousands of miles away, and with a couple of friends I've known for decades--also many miles away.
I no longer like rich food (and shouldn't be eating it). As a vegetarian, I don't eat turkey. I don't hear well in groups, and just getting ready for a social occasion takes some effort on my part.
Because energy is in limited supply, I'm glad to have Thanksgiving day free and clear so I can focus on catching up on things I've been neglecting.
My son is away for a week but we'll try to get together soon.
I think most people would prefer to be among friends or family at Thanksgiving but I drop and spill things, am concerned about getting to and from the bathroom, and with vision and hearing not working so well, I'm just not up to much celebrating in a social way.
I'm coming close to saying that MS may be a situation where it could be an advantage to be isolated even though for most people being isolated isn't good. I need lots of time just to cope with the MS problems that arise, planning my use of time so that I don't overdo and bring on unsteady hands, wobbly legs, bladder and bowel problems, etc. The more interacting with the world I have to do, the more out of control the MS is apt to be.
This is just me though. Others seem to have different situations and benefit greatly from contact with family and friends on holidays.
Many of us here have much to be thankful for. I know I do.
:) Hi everyone. Agate I went to my sons yesterday and it was nice but using their unaccessible bathroom was difficult and I am happy I did not fall in there.
When I got home about 5:30 my neighbor brought me over two plates of food. Turkey dressing, collard greens, potato salad and macaroni and cheese. The other plate had pineapple upside down cake, white cake with caramel icing and sweet potato pie.
I was exhausted so I ate some of the desserts and went to bed. I just got up to stay up. I only went to the bathroom 3 times so I slept about 14 hours.
I just heated the dinner and am eating it now. I also have some small containers my DIL sent me home with for another TG dinner.
I am grateful for a lot of things family, friends and all of you. Knowing how to listen to my body helps a lot as I do not make my MS worse when I rest if tired. Jeanie :)
I'm one of those that prefers being alone, or rather with my cats instead of people. But these forums do allow me to have contact with others, but not directly. I'm not sure if it is MS, or I'm just gotten old enough to appreciate solitude.
Also, I go to the grocery store about once a week, use the electric karts that Food Lion kindly provides, and there, everyone knows me and talks with me, and I'll chat with customers whenever I can. That's my big social contact each week. But it works, and I never feel more alone than I want to be.

I appreciate all of you who, "vaunt to be alone" and not put up with
all of the holiday turmoil of celebrating TG. I am very much with you.
I actually pay for DD and family to go out to eat on TGD, with a big
request to bring me a dinner, so I don't have to cook or go out any
-where. This is what works for me. I was in my robe and napping
when they got here and I didn't have to do a thing, but enjoy all
the kids and DD, for about an hour and then it was all quiet
again....as I prefer it.
I relish my solitude, but I feel a need to remember immediate family
and have them remember me at TG and Xmas times. It keeps us close,
which I think is good for us all. I want my Children and Grands to grow
up with a feeling of Family, as I grew up.
Even though I like to be alone....I don't want to be ignored...LOL!!
