Peg, trouble just keeps following you around. I hope you're feeling better and it turned out to be nothing. High fever and stomach cramps --that's not what you were scheduled to have.

You were supposed to have a pleasant day digging into the leftovers.

I actually pay for DD and family to go out to eat on TGD, with a big
request to bring me a dinner, so I don't have to cook or go out any
        -where.
This sounds like a really sensible arrangement, Sally! Everyone gets treated and nobody gets overworked.

          Thanksgiving saturday.
I arrived chez bro friday eve and ate cold leftovers. hmmm.
His sweetie was there as was my life-alienated sister.

Whether one prefers privacy, and limited social situations it is important to remember
to act on your likes, loves, passions however you can.

I had two offers of dinner with friends on thursday but my wish was
to see family. 8-10 inches of snow was so daunting that it limited my Thanksgiving to me,
the cat and a ridiculous brit comic film, The World's End.
The flick was appropriate- the world did not end but it changed radically in the spirit
Humans have the right to screw up.

          We do.

A dear friend who had invited me over for dinner, showed up to check for snow removal,
helped put luggage in van, gave me some marvelous road snacks and a warm hug. 8>)

Now, saturday afternoon, I am typing from a Hilton after a bad night's sleep.
Management has someone on the case for a louder than usual heating system.
I have checked out but am lingering- a favorite passtime- and having exchanges
with people who are happy to smile.

Warm social interaction makes my day and completes my life.
College hockey road trip tonight and a vietnamese supper.
We'll hang out tomorrow and I will drive home doing what i wanted to do
          having happened on different timing.

Good day and a good weekend, peeps.

I went to an official-type event for Thanksgiving -- not family nor friends, though a few acquaintences from years past. Since my husband doesn't like these type of things, I went alone. I can barely get him to come when it's family. It does make me feel rather alone. Despite that, I had a pleasant time.

Sometimes in passing I think about doing a proper TG dinner and inviting people, but quickly realize I do not have the energy nor ambition to do it.

Very nice Renee and Parsi. You both have more courage than I. Happy you had fun.

Parsi, can you kick your Hubby's butt, in Iran? LOL!

That's me exactly, Parsi. I last tried that many years ago and was wiped out for a long time afterwards. Turkeys and other delicacies take a slow but pretty warm oven. Basting a turkey was one of the hardest things. Opening up that oven door periodically and making sure I didn't splatter hot grease all over myself was tricky when I was already tired and shaky from the effort of getting all of the food ready.

A lot of effort was going into something that was going to be gone forever in a short time. Worth it for the more able bodied--not so smart for me to try though.

Yes Joan, I had to learn that the hard way, as well.

We had another traditional leftovers Thanksgiving dinner and drove to a
                        university hockey game.

A lot of sticks were not on the ice!
Players were falling over, only one smashed stick and a lot of dirty playing.
Since when is a headlock ok in the rule book???

Merry daylight savings to you, Howard et al, and to all your cats.

The home team won, but the Zamboni machines ruled.
