I knew they were older posts and there were more posts on the thread but I did not see strong material....that site has good info so I posted it as a cautionary tale. I have been considering Biotin but stepped back to think which is why I looked at that site, ActiveMSers. The people who post there reminded me of athletes like you!
Anyway, I decided to stop looking for something that would make me even better since I am functioning at a high enough level ?!🌝 But I am actively following Biotin threads just in case.☕️Linda~~~~

Have we seen this already? It's a small study by researchers at an MS center in Golden Valley, MN, entitled "High-Dose Biotin as Treatment for Progressive MS" and was a poster session presented at the AAN conference in April 2016, published online in Neurology:

High-Dose Biotin in Progressive Multiple Sclerosis

Biotin results in sustained improvement of disability in progressive MS.
Biotin is a cofactor for energy metabolism in the Kreb cycle, providing theoretical benefits related to axonal function, degeneration, and repair. To test the effects of high-dose biotin (MD1003) on progressive multiple sclerosis (MS), researchers conducted a 12-month randomized, double-blinded, placebo-controlled, manufacturer-sponsored multicenter trial. They randomized 154 patients 2:1 to MD1003 or placebo. Patients were 18 to 75 years old, had Expanded Disability Status Scale (EDSS) scores of 4.5 to 7.0, and met criteria for secondary progressive or primary progressive MS.
At month 9, 12.6% of patients had improvement in disability, confirmed at month 12. Of the 13 improved participants, 2 improved on both EDSS and 25-foot timed walk (25FTW) endpoints, 8 improved on the EDSS alone, and 3 improved on the 25FTW test alone. No patient on placebo improved during the first 9 months.
COMMENT
This phase II trial has interesting results that demonstrate improved disability endpoints in an advanced progressive MS population. The hypothesis is that metabolically deranged axons may be salvaged to become functional when exposed to high-dose biotin. An international phase III trial is under way. Although the number of patients with improvements was modest, the change may be clinically meaningful. High-dose biotin would be a welcome addition to MS therapeutics, should the result be confirmed in a larger study.
