    What do you do online?

I think this forum is utmost on my list. It makes me feel alive to interact with others who deal with what I do. We comfort those who are going through a difficult time. And we just have fun here now and then.

Then I have one VW forum I go to because....well....I'm a VW nut. Pinky is a VW Karmann Ghia, and it lets me show it off a little.

I go to Facebook, after Agate finally dragged me there after half hearted attempts to join, but I've really enjoyed it.

Other than that, I like to read the Web news, and have that streamlined to show me only what I want to see.

I email my brother and sister now and then, mostly to show them something I find interesting in the news incase they didn't see it.

So now the question now is.......What's in your wallet?

Yeah BT is my first on the list. Facebook is second. I lurk on another MS board although it is a lot slower than BT I read the news on several different places and I check the local news.

To be honest I look things up. Meaning whatever pops into my mind. I think Wikipedia is one of my best sites I do take a lot of it with a grain of salt but I can literally get lost in there. History is one of my favorites. Although with MS I forget half of what I read but I enjoy it never the less.

Facebook is my link to the outside world I like to follow friends and relatives I guess I am nosy. I am friends with several people from BT as well. I like to be able to put a face to the names of people that I know.

One important thing I do online is pay bills. A couple of weeks ago one of the grandkids needed some money for a fund raiser and wanted a check made out to the school instead of cash. I finally had to get a pad of checks from the box as I had no idea where the checkbook was. We seldom use checks or cash. Everything is with the debit card and online.

We have started to watch movies and TV shows online as well I am obsessive about not watching commercials.

I would never want to get rid on my internet service!!

Here and FB and LinkedIn. I play Microsoft daily game challenges in Mahjong, Solitaire, taptiles and puzzles. I check Medical headlines and Research news daily. Once in a while I watch a movie on Amazon Prime and since we no longer have a DVR, I watch shows I've missed on the computer on Demand.

I've gone from being someone who wouldn't go near a computer to someone who feels lost if the Internet isn't available because my computer is broken or whatever.

I visit several MS boards and belong to an online book discussion group. I do some blogging too.

I use Google to search anything and everything: old songs I want to hear again, meanings of words, how-to questions about plumbing, iPads, crocheting, you name it. I've watched some helpful video clips that refreshed my memory about crocheting questions.

I play games on the computer, online and off. FreeCell is a nice game to play while you're waiting on Hold on the phone. Somebody on this board years ago posted in favor of FreeCellPro, and I've had it going ever since.

I order groceries and just about everything else online. I do all my bill paying online.

Last night I was able to watch some of the debates on the Internet via CNN.

I'm on Facebook and LinkedIn but not very actively.

I use the internet for so many things I don't think I could name them all here.
News, shopping for anything and everything, selling, researching, entertainment, games & brain exercises, recipes, craft tutorials and inspiration . . . the list goes on and on. It seems that one thing leads into another.
I usually check my e-mail and Braintalk first thing in the morning and before going to bed. That could be 3 a.m. depending at how involved I am!

Exploring the world with Google Maps is one of my favorites. I love going almost anywhere on the earth to see the terrain using the satellite views, and then walk the streets wherever I feel like dropping in, from NY City to Paris to New Zealand or just around the block from me. Amazing technology once you learn how to use it. Heck, I've even "walked" the narrow streets of the little island of Vis that my father's family came from, and the small farming communities in Nebraska where my Mom's folks were raised, all on Google Maps. One day I called Mom and "walked" her through the streets where she grew up as a kid. Oh the memories that came flooding back to her . . . it was wonderful.
I heard all about the Long Beach earthquake of 1933 and how they, along with several other families, camped out in a vacant lot for a week, scared of another quake hitting. She was just 10 years old. Amazing how she described the elementary school she attended, from memory, just as I was seeing it on the computer! Memory is an amazing thing and tools like Google Maps can help "dust off" some old memories that you may think are lost forever!

I use Facetime or Skype to communicate with loved ones face to face that I would not get to see otherwise. My 92 year old mother is in a retirement home and although she is nearly blind, she can see me (kinda) and I get to see her, when we can connect. I also used Skype to introduce my nephew to computers when he was young, and later when he was struggling with algebra homework and his dad was short on patience for that. My nephew lost his mother to cancer when he was just two, has aspergers and has been a real challenge for his dad, my brother. Skype was a great communication tool for us to keep connected. Now he is 15 and knows way more about computers that his old auntie!

I'm constantly finding new interests that I never would have explored if not for the internet. I visit and am a member of several forums dealing with health to crafts to fossil hunting. The fossil interest was a result of researching to learn about the various huge vertebra fossils, that were found while building our house.
I'm also very interested in rock collecting, but haven't even touched on that . . . yet.

I don't watch TV or movies much, but on occasion I watch something on Hulu. Have a Facebook page I'm but not very active on it. Originally got one so I could see my daughter's travel pictures. Now even my Mom has a page maintained by my brother who keeps her connected with scattered friends and family and posts pictures of outings he takes her out on for all of us to see.

I don't know what we ever did without the internet, but I do know it has enriched my life for sure.

Nuthatch, have you ever seen Google Earth? You can see all over the world, and even found this place, and it was like seeing it from a car right out front. Amazing technology!

I forgot all about Google earth! And Google Map! I have traveled all over the world and never left my chair. New York City as well as the whole east coast has always been on my bucket list to see. I never will but have spent hours going up and down the coast. As well as looking at my farm and the amount of junk I have sitting around.

I forgot about craigslist and AllRecipes.com--thanks for mentioning them, Peg. I'm a regular at those sites too.

And I shouldn't forget Photobucket, which has some great photo editing features but is a bit of a chore to deal with in some ways.

Google Earth is great! My computer is old, so it does not support the full newer Google Earth version, but the older version, Google Maps works almost the same. I'm glad you have had a chance to explore and experience it. You'll find that as you use it more, it's pretty easy to use. You can do so much and see so much. I could be on it all day long, "walking" the streets of large cities like Paris or Dubai or the roads of Alaska. My bro is in the TV news business, so has lived in many different places. I have taken a peek at each city he's worked in over the years. He's in Las Vegas now and believe me there is plenty to see there! I find it sad to see such wealth in some parts of our own nation and terrible poverty in other parts. It seems to be that way the world over.
Here is a link to tutorials on using Google Earth . . . street view can open up the world to those of us who can't travel. It's a big, huge world out there!

Posted before I read . . . oops! Yeah Gary, those darn satellite views sometimes expose more than we'd like. What looks like junk often is not really junk, at least to men! Even trees in winter look like burnt nasty junk! When I look at my own home, it's still just a slab foundation, even though the house was completed a year ago! I guess it is hard to keep up with all there is to photograph in this world!
