I agree. I've found the term "provider" very useful at times. From the consumer or patient standpoint, it's important to have a term that covers all of the people who provide care even though some aren't MDs: dentists, physical therapists, podiatrists, wheelchair repair people, diabetic shoe pedorthists, labs, radiology departments.

They all involve medically related transportation for me and they all get listed when I have to list what parts of my care I pay for or insurance pays for. They're all providing care.
