From the MS Society: booklet on driving with MS

Somebody sent me a .pdf file for an MS Society booklet about driving with MS. I'm not sure it will come out as a link that works for people but it's worth a try:

I read the brochure. Thanks. It has useful information.

But, again, I want to caution drivers about watching what they say to medical professionals. You will know not to drive if you are having an exacerbation or if it is the end of a long day. But, telling people that you have trouble driving simply puts you at risk of being reported to the DMV and getting your life uprooted in drastic ways.

A driving evaluation can cost $350 to $500 and is generally
      not covered by insurance
      .

Well that is a pricey evaluation. Plus just to begin the process takes 2 hours. I think I will just hold off driving until or unless my right foot gets stronger. Thanks for the info Agate

One of the two authors happens to be a driver rehabilitation specialist. It's possible that driver rehabilitation specialists are interested in promoting business for themselves and don't get enough people willing to pay that kind of money for a driver evaluation.

I can't imagine that most people would be willing to pay $250-300 and spend at least two hours just to find out some possibly bad news about their driving.

People with MS are probably much better served by just getting to know what their particular version of MS will let them do and plan their driving according to what they know about themselves.
