I can really preen myself--when I'm not patting myself on the back, that is, on account of all of the praise that's being heaped on me.

I used to teach but I disliked being up there in front of all of those people. I also hated performing solo in a chorus or piano recital. Ditto for having to give a book report in school.

Could we move on to feature somebody else?
