    Good and Bad Message

First, at least for Dish customers, Starz and HBO are free this weekend.

Second, I may be off the net because Comcast has screwed me up royally. That's the computer and phone. I'll tell you more about it later. But I will be back on the 3rd, payday.

    Enjoy your movies.

I have eggnog in the fridge my sister got me. I've never had it before, but I love egg custard, and she said it was similar. I'll try it later.

I must have had a deprived childhood!

Does anyone know when we get paid? New Years and the weekend fall back to back.

People getting Social Security benefits (NOT SSI) will be paid on December 31st if the information I got for my account there is correct.

It might be best to look into it for your individual account there though, just in case. You can start at Only registered and activated users can see links., Click Here To Register....

If you have already signed up there, you'll probably be forced to change your password.

Thanks Agate. I may not have to be offline for too long, but will call them tomorrow and see if we can work something out. Wish me luck!

I suffered with Comcast for years. I'm so glad to be rid of them!

Yes, renee, please do whatever it takes.

My contract with Comcast runs out in May, then I'm going with who my nephew is with, and get the three way bundle with phone, Net, and TV for half what I pay for Comcast now for just phone and computer! I can't wait!

Eggnog. I love eggnog. Funny story: my father did not drink any kind of alcohol. He'd go to office parties (he was an executive in a large company), carrying a glass of ginger ale with a cherry in it so people would think he had an alcoholic drink. We always had eggnog at home.....plain dairy eggnog, and we all loved it. So he goes to this party where there's a big punchbowl full of eggnog, whipped cream on top, cinnamon on the surface. Much like the way my mom served it at home. So to be different (he wasn't all that fond of ginger ale), he helped himself to a glass of eggnog. It tasted different than what he'd had at home, but he assumed t was just a different brand. Then he had a second glass.

A short while later, he started to feel really ill. Lightheaded. Dizzy. A bit short of breath. The room seeming to shift on its axis. He called over a friend for help. They were all really concerned because he had a history of heart trouble, and perhaps this was a heart attack? My dad didn't think so...maybe something he ate, or maybe he was coming down with something....so the friend drove him home, helped him into the house. Dad recounted to my mother what the problem was, and what he had eaten. My mother then asked what he had to drink...she, a child of alcoholics, thought she smelled alcohol on his breath!! Most unlike him!! He assured her that all he'd had was his usual ginger ale....and, oh yeah, a couple of glasses of egg nog....

Which it turned out had been spiked...maybe heavily spiked....with brandy. After a good night's sleep..and a bit of a headache the next day, he was fine...

Great story Cat! It will probably be my bedtime story. I can't even stay awake until 11. I was just a young man yesterday, and would stay awake the whole night! What happened?
