I apologize to Howie. Renee does seem to have started it. But Howie's the one who ran with it!

I read that winning that much money would make you miserable. There are a number of reasons but you'd never be able to go anywhere. What bank has that much anyhow? Winning a few thousand sounds preferable.
Vicky, why would you never be able to go anywhere if you had that much money? Would you be too well-known a celebrity, with papparazzi swarming all over you?

Seems to me I could manage to buy quite a few airline tickets with that stash.

And about the banks not having that much, I'd just use a carefully selected assortment of banks, with suggestions from my financial advisers, of course.

No thanks, I won't prefer winning a few thousand. I'll take pie when pie's passing.

Now how can I get a Powerball ticket?

P.S. When I win, I promise to make a donation to BrainTalk.

What a great idea, Sally! And everybody's choice of well-prepared food that is hot when it should be hot and cold when it should be cold.

Room temperatures we could control ourselves.

Joan, I don't envy those folks who won at all. It will make them virtual prisoners. They'll be hounded by the media and others who want a piece of the action for themselves.

The only people who won't know about it will be those who have no access to social media. That sounds very unappealing to me.

Guess I wasn't one of them or I'd have heard by now.

Seriously, Vicky, I agree with you. I was just living in a temporary dream world.

The morning of the drawing, NPR had a show about how to manage if you win. Husband came home that night (Weds) and i told him the recommended plan: don't tell anyone! Get new phones and numbers. Take time to think about what's important to you and what you want to protect. Meet w a group like the Sudden Money Institute. Get a private banker. When uou must claim the money, be anonymous thru an attorney.

We had a good discussion about are goals and groups we want to support. I was sorry when we couldn't put our action plan in place! I was so ready!

ANN (stillstANNding), I thought you must have made that up about the Sudden Money Institute but there really is such a thing!

Agate, it turns out that I am not that good at making things up. Almost everytime I have tried to write it turns out a personal essay.

Btw, and way off topic, anyone who hasn't listened to The Moth should look it up. True stories told by the authors in front of live audiences w/o notes. It runs on NPR and you can listen online or subscribe.

I'm sure it will be fascinating even if you don't include your MRI report.

For newcomers or those whose memories don't include this sort of thing, Howie periodically treats this board to his MRI report.
