    I'm not sure where that information came from but according to the article in your link,

    Reports that the drug is a cannabis-based painkiller have been denied by the health ministry.
    An article in the New York Times (January 15) says:

    The drug is intended to help with mood, anxiety and motor problems linked to neurodegenerative diseases by having an effect on the endocannabinoid system, a set of brain receptors. Of 128 participants, 90 were given the drug, and the rest a placebo.

    Contrary to several reports in the French news media, the drug was not a cannabis-based painkiller, Ms. Touraine said.
    Bial identified the drug as an inhibitor of an enzyme known as FAAH, or fatty acid amide hydrolase. Other FAAH inhibitors have been tested safely in Phase 1 and Phase 2 clinical trials, said Andrea G. Hohmann, a professor of neuroscience at Indiana University who studies the endocannabinoid system and pain.

            When I was a kid, my violin teachers son was doing research at Yale on MS. The son then developed MS and became completely incapacitated. I never forgot it. This was about 58 years ago.

                    And I believe that these were the healthy volunteers not afflicted by the condition the med intended to treat.

                    These were just perfectly healthy people testing the drug for safety.

                    Guess it failed at the first instance. Very sad for these altruistic people who had nothing to gain but a little extra cash in their pocket.

                      It is very sad. Brain dead is DEAD! I expect some lawsuits will follow, and they should!

                        Some people think that is up for debate and/or it is commonly misdiagnosed when in reality the person is in PVS(could be wrong). Regardless it is TERRIBLE and yes lawsuits should follow!
