I'm so sorry you're battling an intestinal bug. I hope that you are staying well hydrated. If it doesn't improve, you might need to call your doctor and be tested for C-diff. If you're nauseated, try munching on some saltines.

Sally, can't they find that out about the UTI pretty quick where you are? Or maybe they don't do that sort of thing. I hope you are wrong and symptoms go away.

Praying that you don't have a UTI! See if you can get your hands on some cranberry juice (preferably unsweetened). It helps to normalize pH in the bladder.

If you think that you have a UTI, don't wait to have a UA to test for it. UTIs can go South pretty quickly. The sooner you're treated, the better.

UTIs can go to the kidneys, to be more specific, and you definitely don't want that. The urinalysis will show whether you have an infection, but to treat it they need to know what bugs you have, and that takes a urine culture. There's a wait for it to "grow."

Often a doctor will prescribe a broad-spectrum antibiotic in the meantime though so you can get started on something even though the rx might have to be changed once they figure out what bug(s) they're fighting.

--Or maybe they're not doing this so readily any more, now that they're being so careful about antibiotics?
