Keto Diet: Proceed With Caution!
((((((Hugs to All)))))) ~
Based upon the parents of special needs children, who I've known through the years and tried the Ketogenic Diet for their kids, the Keto Diet isn't something to take lightly or to try on your own, without a doctor's supervision. You should also have a nutritionist to assist you in developing your meals. It's a very strict diet (at least for controlling seizures), and every parent says that it is a difficult diet to follow. Very few parents reported success with the diet controlling their children's seizures.
It was usually prescribed for short term solutions, because it does cause a systemic imbalance. Be prepared for intestinal issues. I might have considered it for my boys, if the diet had a better efficacy record.
Just be careful if you're considering trying the Keto Diet.
