Weekends suck at nursing homes. Any staff qualified to actually make decisions arent working and the ones who are there are working weekends only because the pay is better. They won't call a doctor unless it's truly an amergency. Both times I've been in the nursing home I've had to badger the nurse to call the doctor....And they'll only call the doctor who is the nursing home doctor. In the 16 weeks total that I was in there, I never saw her, yet she made all sorts of decisions regarding my care. My wound care doctor finally called her on my behalf....resulting in better care....for awhile...until she decided to do something different, which resulted in more complications for me.

hi sally. sorry to hear about your troubles. when i was in a nursing home they gave me all these pills to take, different colors and shapes than i was used to, and more pills than i was used to. for weeks i tried to get someone to explain these to me, including the nurse practitioner, my wife, aides. then i started to horde my pills. i know this was wrong, but i was desperate. finally i had my wife call my psychiatrist, and he called the nurse practitioner. one day she came in and sat on my bed and explained to me every pill i was taking, why i was taking them, and how long i had to take them. i was happy! i hope there is something in this that can be helpful to you.

Too many hugs? We can be smothering in our hovering, I admit.
Hope all is well, Sal. You are never far from our thoughts!
