    OT. Just Another StupiD Worry!

Does anyone know what I must do when all the TV stations change to digital?
My TV is my only friend and companion here at the home and I am so afraid
that I will be without all of my stations. We have cable here, but I don't have
    a digital TV.

Will I have to purchase a digital TV or what? Does anyone know?

Is your TV cable ready? Does it have an "F" connector on the back? It is a round cable like thingy that threads on vs the old flat cable that had wires that were wrapped around a screw. The only time you need to worry about digital signal is if you were hooked to a "over the air" signal (an antenna) if you don't have the right connector on the back of the TV then an adapter is easily obtained from almost anywhere (Walmart) to hook the cable to the TV for less than $5

Gary, my TV is cable ready and hooked to cable here at the home.
However it is not digital ready, so does that mean that I must purchase
a new digital TV, in order to pick up the new digital stations?

When I was in the nursing home, one of the janitors there was very knowledge about all things electronic. I think if you're able to get cable, you should be able to get digital without any problem. But if so, the digital converter box can be bought off the shelf, and someone there might be able to do the connections for you. It would take less than 10.minutes, and the boxes are pretty inexpensive.

You will still be able to get TV without buying digital if you get cable. It may not be a sharper digital picture but no worse than you have now. Deep breath....virtual hug!

Sally, are you able to get down the hall at all, maybe with someone pushing you in a wheelchair?

There's usually a day room or solarium or some such place where there's a TV for general use. There may even be more than one room like that. Have you looked into it?

I don't want to get your hopes up though because others might be hogging it most of the time, but it's worth a try if you haven't already looked around.

No. It has to do with over the air signal from an antenna. If it has a screw on connector you should be good to go. Unless their cable has a separate box similar to the Directv box.

Thanks for hanging with me on this. I think I'll wait to see what the home
Is going to do. When everyone starts screaming in here and they will..LOL!
