Well, this is my one year anniversary of being on the Cath. It has been quite a trip. Highlight was learning how to Cath in a tent while on a two week long camping and road trip to British Columbia. But my most memorable moment came early on. I was Cathing flat on my back in bed at the time. I was running way behind schedule. I had forgot to empty before hand. So that when the Cath hit home - there must have been more than a liter in there - the cathter shot out on a geyser and flew around the room like a balloon letting out air. I just laughed so hard that my wife heard me down in the laundry room and came running to see what was the matter. I learned a few lessons that time.

Hi redcardinal,

Well, while your recounting of your Cathter experience is funny to read, I would not think it would have been any fun for you. With your upswing in walking maybe one of these days you can do away with the cath. Wouldn't that be nice - not to have to deal with the whole thing would be great. However, in the mean time it seems you have made peace with it and do quite well. I can't imagine going on a camping trip and certainly not a long one. In addition, add the cathter and that would just do me in thinking about it. We do have some others on here who either have had to cath or are still doing it. At least you still have your sense of humor. Sounds like your wife does also. Sometime SOs just do not understand and then others just seem to accept as their disease as well. These are the lucky people. We have some people on here who's spouses are their rocks.

Glad you're having fun with the catheter, redcardinal. You might as well, eh?

I've had some catheterizations but have missed out on the experience of self-cathing so far. Avoiding infections must be very important and difficult.

I agree that it's great that you can laugh.
