    Exercise pedaller

The money I earned from being in the VA Hospital MS study was burning a hole in my pocket, and so I spent some of it on this new gadget:

It's an exercise pedaller. I believe someone here has something similar--is it SuzE-Q?

I can sit in my wheelchair and use it. I can keep it under my desk and use it while sitting at the desk. I could put it on a counter and use it for arm exercise as well but I'm trying to improve my walking and prevent falls, and I'll be using it mainly for legs.

I did 5 or 6 minutes on it today but hope to work up gradually.

That's great, Joan! Can you set a tension on it, or is it the same resistance?

You will get more out of yours I'm sure pedalling under your own steam!

Do you have a temporary worsening of other symptoms with the exertion?

Joan, need same answers as Suze! It looks too tall and large to go under my computer desk and I am usually up and down when at my regular desk. Is it shorter than picture appears? I would have to start so slow that I am not sure it would ever do me any good and that is the reason I was thinking more about one like Suze has that does it for you. Even that one, if the tension was not down to nothing it would put me in a flair I think. But I could maybe get flexibility back - or some of it.

Hope it works well for you.

I had a treadmill for a while, but my main objection was it's so boring. I used to play music, and that helped for a while, but I was looking at a wall in the living room. I sold it to my nephew for almost nothing, just to get it out of my sight.

There's a knob on the top and the tension can easily be adjusted.

The exertion causes problems--after only about 5 minutes now but that's probably on account of the fall. I was up to 10 minutes on the big pedalling machine they used at PT months ago. Fatigue sets in but I had built up to that 10 minutes and hope to get there again soon--and beyond.

Virginia, it's 15" wide x 21" long X 14" high at its highest point (including the pedal at the top position). I have a traditional desk--I'm not sure how a computer desk is different, but there are many models of these pedallers available, when I looked at Amazon. Lots of sizes and configurations, and with or without electronic addons.

Howie, I was concerned about not doing the pedalling because of boredom but my neighbor sits and watches TV while doing hers.

I thought about TV, but that thing took up so much room, I had no place to put a TV. My exercise these days is the once a week trip to the grocery store, then bring everything inside, and putting it away.

And my daily cat chores, and my meal of the day, bath and laundry, just the normal things of living.

                HI PEG!!!

Howie, isn't a treadmill a lot bigger? The ones I've seen are.

Sounds as if you get exercise. Anyone taking care of two cats is probably dancing attendance on them night and day.

Yes, they are VERY big, and heavy. I like that little device you have. Nice looking, and gets you moving. Catering to the cats and fulfilling their every want and desire does keep me going. It's good to know they are providing me SOME benefit!

Mine wasn't so heavy. I put it on the coffee table todo my arms and hands.

Joan, don't know if you have any carpet or not. Would love to know if it slips on carpet when you are using it. Thanks.

I have lowpile carpeting--I don't know if that's the same as indoor/outdoor? Anyway the pedaller doesn't slip on the carpeting.

Virginia, mine came with an inexpensive non-slip mat. I'm sure it would be easy to find if you needed it.
