It seems like a such a dumb errand to spend most of a day on. Call a ride a week in advance, wait for the ride, get the work done, then wait for a ride to pick me up and possibly spend a couple of hours more riding around on the van while passengers are picked up or dropped off.

I had my first MS exacerbation in 1963, DX in 1976. Was allergic to valtrex, couldn't take
it for shingles. Took Avonex and Copaxone in the 90s. Had all of the HV viruses.

Howie, 99% of the time I'll go with whatever item has the lowest price but when it comes to watches, my idea of a cheap watch that will work for a few years costs $25 and has a warranty on it. I'm not taking any chances on a used watch. I could put up with a watch that doesn't work right but it's not much good to me. I have the notion that in watches you have to buy a new watch in a brand that is known to work well for purchasers.
Knowing what time it is matters to me, and it can't be within 10 minutes or half an hour. I often have to be somewhere by a certain time or be penalized for it.
If I miss a ride, I'm chalked up as a "no show," and if I do that a couple of times, I'm penalized.
If I miss a medical or dental appointment or am too late, I can often be penalized $25 or so.
It's not just the penalty--it's getting to have such a bad reputation that nobody wants to deal with me (ride providers, medical providers).
People on Medicaid are already in a category where medical providers are doing us a HUGE favor by dealing with us at all, and they make that quite clear.
The least I can do for them, to show my gratitude for putting up with me, is to be on time.
At least if this watch is a dud, I can pull out my phone to get the time, provided the phone is keeping accurate time. I don't know my phone well enough yet to know if I can trust its timekeeping.
My computer clock is often off by half an hour, and then suddenly it resets itself.
If you've shut up about watches, I guess that means I'm having the last word on the subject, and so I win!

I've got a cheap enough phone and it's kept accurate time since I bought it about a year ago.

Howie, I'm with you on Timex. I buy my watches at Mom's Kmart. They do me fine. I like to wear a watch when I am flying. I check the time frequently. I prefer it to pulling out my phone over and over again.
