Is driving your car to a nearby city today so simple? I've read quite a few horror stories, right here on this board, about people who had problems doing just that.

But no matter. Guess I'll swing by Neptune today and see if I can pick up some bargains.

I believe thongs are the native dress of the inhabitants of Uranus. They customarily vacation on Neptune. There are some "transplants" who prefer to keep their traditions alive by donning the traditional costume of their native planet.
That's the only explanation I can come up with for Howie . . . makes sense to me!

After a little research this becomes clearer and clearer. Hear are some facts I found when I googled some questions about Uranus:

Temperature
-357 degrees Fahrenheit
Even though Uranus is tipped on its side and experiences seasons that last over 20 years, the temperature differences on the summer and winter sides do not differ greatly because the planet is so far from the sun. Near the cloud tops, the temperature of Uranus is -357 degrees Fahrenheit (-216 degrees Celsius).

This explains how he can hole up in his air conditioned room year around, wearing only a thong (or nothing at all), without getting cold. He could probably go nude in earths coldest places! He's acclimated to cold temperatures.

How hot does Uranus get?
Scientists also believe that on the surface of Uranus there may be a huge ocean. And, interestingly, it is thought that the temperature of this ocean may be extremelyhot, maybe even as hot as 5000 degrees Fahrenheit (2760 Celsius). Uranus is almost identical to the planet Neptune.

No wonder Uranusites (I may have invented a new word!) vacation on Neptune . . . the climate is similar! This also explains the whole "under the sea" thing he is always hooting about!

Why is it so cold on Uranus?
The upper atmosphere is made of water, ammonia and the methane ice crystals that give the planet its pale blue colour. With minimum atmospheric temperature of -224°C Uranus is nearly coldest planet in the solar system. While Neptune doesn't get as cold as Uranus it is on average colder.

Hmmmmm . . . pale blue color . . . hmmmm!

What are some interesting facts about Uranus?
Uranus Facts. Uranus is the seventh planet from the Sun. It's not visible to the naked eye, and became the first planet discovered with the use of a telescope.
Uranus is tipped over on its side with an axial tilt of 98 degrees.
