18.6% of the paralysis cases in the US (2013) due to MS, according to a CDC study

According to this CDC study, 18.6% of the 5.4 million people living with paralysis in the US (in 2013) had MS.

It must have taken them 3 years to process the data because the article is in the current American Journal of Public Health.

They're calling attention to how widespread paralysis is and hoping for improvement in the situation of people limited by paralysis.

So obvious. Of course people with MS experience paralysis. Been with me for 33 years...

This is a new one for sure. So now crazy people are writing articles for them?

I'm not sure about the last two posts in this thread and so maybe I should explain.

I posted the article as a bit of filler. The board might be getting a bit slow late in August as people are winding up their summers, maybe away on vacations.

Most studies take a long time to get published. Once the data is gathered and analyzed, the article has to be written and reviewed by people at various levels in the publishing and research fields. When it's public health data, it's not so surprising that a mid-2016 scientific journal is publishing an article using data from 2013.

I didn't mean to suggest that the people doing the study were crazy. Far from it.

I'm overjoyed that someone is calling attention to the widespread prevalence of paralysis in the population. There's a need for more awareness of the limitations paralysis puts on people. Just my opinion though.
