Celebrities helping to solve the MS problem

I'm not a heavy metal fan but maybe some people here are familiar with the band Iron Maiden? Even if you're not, their drummer, who had MS, died (in 2013) at the young age of 56. So sad!

Celebrities with MS sometimes contribute towards solving the MS problem, though, and Clive Burr's friends set up a foundation that primarily helped to defray some of his expenses but also helped others:

The article reporting his death was in Rolling Stone:

Quite a few celebrities have been giving money or helping in various ways to call attention to MS and to provide funds for research and aid. For instance, J. K. Rowling, author of the Harry Potter books, whose mother had MS:

Iron Maiden? Yeah, I've heard of them, but didn't know about how MS has reached into several of their lives. It's time to stop this disease! It's not a matter of not enough funds, but a matter of pointing the funds in the right direction IMHO.

This disease makes so much money for some drug corporations, I don't think anyone wants to stop MS, they simply try to develop a new drug that will show users post better stats than none users.

Um, somewhat better stats. The last time I looked,, those "better stats" weren't so wondrously impressive.

Back when I was actually searching for information, the stats for one drug were the same as the stats for placebo, and yet it was approved for a treatment. That ended my search for any drug short of an absolute cure.

I looked up Iron Maiden. I don't know any of their songs. Their type of heavy metal is not the sort I listen to.

I listened to one of their songs just to refresh my dim memory of what heavy metal is like. I don't like this type of music. It grates on the frazzled nerves but that's just my preference.

Still, I was glad when young people began getting enthusiastic about being in bands. It's nice to see a bunch of young people interested in producing sounds that people might like instead of just being interested in guns or pummeling people or watching dogs fight or whatever other interests are out there attracting people. Video games with everybody zapping everybody else.

Cuba is working on vaccine to prevent lung cancer. Maybe they will tackle MS?!

None. I can take some hard rock but not metal. I should have said that their "music" is not the type I listen to.

Black Sabbath have, in my book, always been the kings of Heavy Metal. Put Sweet Leaf by Black Sabbath in your search, and see what the real Heavy Metal is about....or that's what I heard.

Hm. I like Black Sabbath. Must just be Iron Maiden I don't like!

I couldn't name a single Iron Maiden song, but I've heard they're name. Dang young Whipper Snappers!!!
