    Amazon Assistant? (OT)

Has anyone had any experience with Amazon Assistant?

I just downloaded this feature when it was offered on Amazon.com.

Just wondered if anyone here has found it useful.

I shop Amazon, and have it. I think it just helps you narrow down your searches. Amazon has EVERYTHING, so zeroing in on a specific product could be helpful. Besides, it's free!

Hmm...don't know what that is??! And I spend hundreds of dollars at Amazon all the time. Something new, obviously.

I haven't used it but it promptly stuck a little icon on the toolbar. It seems to hunt for the best deal on some product you might want to buy, and it keeps track of your orders and delivery schedules, I think.

Hmmm....I never noticed it. And I too spend hundreds of dollars on Amazon.
I was going to check out another service they have that connects a customer with workers so you can hire someone to do a job with a degree of confidence. Plumbers, carpenters, painters...everything I think.

I have also discovered that an Amazon gift card is the one gift I give that I always know people like. I get big thank you responses.

Between YouTube and Amazon I have a real technical library for anything I am trying to do. Just recently I discovered the "answered questions" section on Amazon. This is different from the customer comments/evaluations. I can even ask a question and get answers from customers who have used a product.

Amazon is the most user friendly site I have ever used.

Wow, I am on Amazon and did not know about this, nor did I know about what Linda is talking about. Interesting. Today being cyber Monday I bought two more books from Amazon. Normally, would cost $9.95 and I paid $3.95 each so not a bad deal. Think I can go back and if it hasn't ended will get one more.

I looked at the assistant app and it just seemed too complicated to bother with. It's easy enough to do a search on Amazon as it is. Or maybe I'm just to old to bother figuring it out. I'll just keep it the way it is.

I do like Amazon Smile though....a totally painless way to support your favorite charity, in my case, my church. Costs me nothing, Amazon pays the charity 5% of my purchases. For the amount I spend, that adds up! No special anything needed. Just go to Amazonsmile.com there will be a link there to a list of charities you can choose from. You pick one, then every time you go to Amazon Smile and shop, your charity will get a donation. Same Amazon, same account you already use, same prices, same sales. It's now my default Amazon setting.

Only a few years back, when walking wasn't a problem, I used to go to Walmart for just about everything. And usually, standing in line at the checkout wasn't a long wait.

But then I discovered Amazon, and never went to Walmart again. I think what I like best is the tracking of your package. You get an mail of every stop on the journey, and the last email will say "Your package is at the front door". And I always get a chuckle when I walk to the door, and there it is!

Amazon is always suggesting things they think I might be interested in and they're usually wrong. This year they were suggesting gifts I might want to buy for Christmas from sellers who are saying they may not have any until the first of the year. I'll just search on my own, thanks.

That's been my experience too, Vicky. I really had my doubts about getting into this "Assistant" thing. I'll see how it goes.

About AmazonSmile--I signed up for it less than a year ago and recently found out that without knowing it I'd contributed $84 to the grocery-delivery service that I use. It's a local service run by volunteers but it's been around for many years and seems to work well. For me it's a huge convenience and I'm happy I can help them in this way.

Update on this: At first it looked as if Amazon Assistant was just another way for Amazon to throw promotions at me. All I saw when I went there was suggested bargains.

But when I tried to track a package using Amazon Assistant, I found I could turn off the deals and other promotions and easily found out about the package.

It's a little easier for me than fishing through e-mails for package-tracking information.

So I'm still lukewarm about Amazon Assistant but it might have its uses. Instead of finding the Amazon Website through a search, I can enter the name of the item I'm looking for on Amazon Assistant and go right to the Amazon site with results for that item.
