I have a stack of piano music that is about a foot and a half tall. I've carried this stack around with me for the last 30+ years. I sold my piano in 1981, shortly after the MS diagnosis. I lacked the strength and coordination to play it very well at all.
This building has a piano anyone can use, and I tried it out once to see if maybe I could play it after all. I found out I couldn't. The piano wasn't great but it wasn't all the piano's fault.
That was several years ago, and I'm still hanging onto that stack of music. They're all good editions of classic composers but very battered up. They're well scribbled with notes by the piano teacher and by me. I can't imagine that anyone would want this music. The scribbled notes wouldn't mean much to anyone but me. Why don't I throw this stack of music away?
Sometimes I hear a song or piece on the Internet or a recording and I can pull out the score and follow along with it. Or sometimes I'm trying to remember how a piece went or what its words were (some are songs), and I can go to that stack and find out.
That's my excuse anyway for keeping something that is clearly taking up quite a bit of space.
