I have been a fan of Janis Ian's music for many years, but just recently learned of the foundation she set up in memory of her mother, who had MS.

So sweet. Seventeen was a favorite as a gawky teen. Still is.

Such a touching story about her mother.

And the scholarships that are given are intended primarily for students who have been away from school for 5 years or so. That seems like a very good idea.

Society's Child was written when she was only 15. Always been a favorite of mine. She later wrote her autobiography called Society's Child. Here is an excerpt.

Thank you for sharing this, nuthatch.

Twenty or so years ago, I was fortunate to be invited by a friend to attend an intimate concert evening with Janis Ian. We were so close to the stage, and the crowd was so into her music. It was fantastic. A gifted artist and an incredible woman.
