New Zealander who invented handy burger holder to seek stem cell treatment in Russia

This New Zealand man invented what is probably a handy gadget for holding onto a hamburger so the toppings don't fall out, and he has MS. He's hoping to go to Russia for stem-cell treatment:

I'm not posting this as a way of promoting his cause or trying to persuade anyone to donate. It just seemed like an interesting story, one more instance of the lengths we'll go to in our efforts to get rid of MS.

You are right...it is interesting. Thanks for posting.
I remember reading thoughts that this type of process might need to be repeated often as whatever caused the problem in the first place might repeat with the treated cells..? I vaguely remember that but stem cell work is exciting.
You are right about lengths we go to to try and stop the progress of MS.

Reading the article you posted made me reflect on the worldwide friendships that science fosters between countries. The Space Lab and its collaboration between the US and Russia.... The fusion collider...medical research. All of it goes on across borders. No travel bans.

Good article. I would like to know what happens if he does get to go to Russia. They can do that here, but as Linda said with this type treatment it is said to usually come back. I heard one man who had it done say that it was great, but he knew that his would come back. He said it was impossible to get every cell. In the meantime he went from being unable to even feed his small children to having a great life.
