    CBD oil dose?

I am taking 160mg CBD oil 2x per day. No relief as of yet from spasms and neuropathy.

Am waiting for Marinol to be auth by insurance. But it comes with significant side effects. CBD has no side effects. CBD is from Hemp. Marinol is synthetic marijuana.

I can't find info on the daily dose of CBD oil. Or best brand. Anyone know anything?

Jendie might be on it, unsure.

    Help?

It's interesting, but only the CBD oil spray is pertinent t, and it looks like extremely low dose.

I found an MD who is applying for med MJ cert in Florida and seems to know a lot about CBD. Her first appt is in 6 weeks, so stay tuned. She said she will have her cert in 3 months (the law just passed) and law requires I be her patient for at least 90 days, so that works out, the dang govt is so scared of MJ, and yet they let the docs peddle OxyContin freely and look how that has destroyed lives. I don't get it...

I don't know, it honestly makes me wonder if they get some kind of kick back for prescribing narcotics.

I don't know how to describe how much CBD oil I use, it's about the size of a grain of rice. I want to go back to using the tincture since that is easier to measure out, by the dropper full.

That's great that you've found an MMJ doctor. I wish you didn't have to wait so long, but at least you have a professional to help you through the maze of assorted MMJ options.

Sue (Porkette) in the Epilepsy forum has found success with CBD oil in reducing her seizures. We have friends, who have benefited from CBD oil to reduce pain in PA and RA.

More states are legalizing MMJ, as well as recreational MJ. It's the "wave of the future" in treatment for a variety of conditions and diseases.

Big Pharma has a powerful lobby and probably has more than a few members of Congress in its back pocket. Big Pharma is the reason why opiate addiction is a plague in the U.S. And Big Pharma is why the feds won't legalize MMJ. Cuts into their gigantic profits.

MMJ typically doesn't have adverse side effects. But every pharmaceutical has a litany of side effects. So Big Pharma has drugs to treat those side effects. $$$$$$$

And $650 for Marinol is a prime example of Big Pharma's tight grip on our health choices. And how much do the MS meds cost, which many of you take? THOUSANDS.

We just got two Medicare/supplemental insurance summaries for Jim ~ he's had PET scan, CT scan, MRI, needle biopsy, implanted port, 3 days of chemo, blood work, and he's seen 4 physicians in their offices, not to mention all of the radiologists, who read his test results. I'm afraid to open them. And we've only been into this for a little over 2 months.

Cancer is big business for Big Pharma. Chemo and immunotherapy drugs, plus the drugs to treat their side effects translate into billions of dollars of profit.

In my opinion, this is why the feds will not legalize MMJ. I won't say never. But, I will say it definitely won't happen under the current administration.

I hope that you find relief with the CBD oil and that this doctor will help you.

Don't answer if you don't want it known or makes you uncomfortable, but have any of you just smoked pot? Did you get any relief from the things that CBD gives relief?

No. I like reality and thus am wary of Marinol as it can make you high whereas CBD doesn't.

EarthAngel, might you be able to find out from your friend who uses CBD oil what dose is, and what brand she buys?

                      ((((((BBS)))))) ~

Our friend uses CBD oil for PA/RA pain and adjusts the doses based on the pain level and efficacy of the oil. No physician guidance is involved; she's self-medicating after problems with PA/RA pharmaceuticals.

Your needs are different than hers, so it's best if you tailor your dose to suit your needs. This is where your MMJ physician should be helpful in guiding you to the right kind of CBD oil and dosage.

A low dose of THC with CBD oil is unlikely to cause a "high," when used medicinally to treat pain or neurological symptoms. AIDS and cancer patients benefit from THC, because it decreases nausea and increases appetite. It's relaxing, but not mind bending. But everyone is different and responds uniquely to medications.

I pray that you find what works best for you.

                      ((((((Jeannie)))))) ~

Thank you for your prayers, and thank you for the link to LDN. Jim is seeing his oncologist tomorrow, and he will mention this to her.

According to our son's nurse, Jim's oncologist is top of the line in these parts and loved and respected by her patients. She is open to just about anything to help Jim.

She did mention immunotherapy as an option for Jim, but likely after his chemo. She also sent a sample of Jim's biopsy to a company, which conducts molecular testing to determine the best and right treatment for all kinds of cancer.

Jim did extremely well through his first round of chemo. We're praying for good results.

Oh, and we opened the Medicare billing statements today. Yikes! This is just a partial list, without the chemo and a couple of tests and doctor visits. It is jaw dropping astounding. If Part B doesn't pick up the leftovers, we're looking at a hefty bill to pay privately. And we're only 2 months into this journey.

Do you have a Mwedicare supplement insurance? Example: my sup is BCBS and it picks up 100% of what Medicare does not pickup.

Rose, my Medicare supplement also picks up 100% of what Medicare does not pay. I have United Health.

When my husband had cancer he had to have two different surgeries in 10 days. He was in the hospital 32 days the first time and probably a total of six or seven times between Labor Day and the following March 5th when he passed away. The bills came from the hospital and separate bills from radiologist and different doctors. Some I never heard of and I was at the hospital almost around the clock. It became overwhelming and I started just pitching them on my desk when they came.

Of course when things were over I had it all to deal with and even though he had Military insurance and carried a supplement to pick up what they did not pay it was unbelievable what I had to pay. But my husband was not on Medicare, he was too young and not eligible for Medicare. And on top of that he passed away 30 years ago. I know how much medical care has gone up since then. I kept paying the hospital for things they said had not been paid. They would call and I would pay. I was going through everything, but when you have surgeons, primary care doctors, oncologist, radiologist and infectious disease doctors and blood work being sent out and on and on it is impossible to say who is right and who is wrong. Finally, about a year after his death when I thought everything was covered I put all the papers away intending to never look at them again. One evening the hospital called again. Out of the blue, (I didn't realize I was going to do it) I started yelling at this man. I said "Do you realize how much Rex Hospital has been paid? Everyone keeps telling me to try and move on, well how can I do that when you will not let me. Now I have to get all those papers back out." I then caught myself and apologized and told him I realized it was his job and I did not mean to take it out on him.

Well, that man was so nice. He very calmly said to go ahead and yell at him and get it out. He said he did know how much the hospital had been paid that he was looking at it and did not blame me. He told me to forget it and try to move on with my life and he said I promise you will never hear from this hospital again. He said he would see to that, and I never did. Some people are just naturally nice, good people. He was one.

I wish I had had some CBD oil back then if it helps with pain. I certainly would have given it to him.

                            Whoa.

Many people don't know you can negotiate with hospitals.

My beef is that the bills are so obfuscating. There is no way to make sense out of them. Recently DH had eye surgery. He kept paying bills as they came in. I put my foot down and told him that BCBS says you owe such and such, why are you paying that extra $900?

So he went in and talked to business office, and even they couldn't make heads or tails of it. They told him not to pay the $900 and that was the end of it. GEESH!

Yes, we have Supplemental Part B and Part D (for drugs) with United Healthcare, like Virginia and several other folks here.

I agree that the bills are difficult to interpret. For example, Jim's biopsy total was $9k. Medicare approved $9k, but only paid $1k. The amount we might have to pay is $258. I'm certainly no math whiz, but that doesn't seem to make any sense. If they approved the total amount, why didn't they pay even close to it? And is our Supplemental Part B going to pick up the other $2k or the $258?

I guess we'll find out as we go along. These were not bills, by the way. They are summaries of services, charges and what Medicare has paid.

Please forgive me ~ I didn't mean to hijack your thread! I was using our situation as an illustration of exorbitant medical and pharmaceutical costs.

I'm so sorry you and your husband went through so much and for your loss of your beloved husband. You are so right about the many doctors, tests, hospital fees, etc. being overwhelming and confusing. Thankfully, you encountered a compassionate person in the end to settle the matter for you.
