America has lost the art of putting young kids to bed on time. It contributes to the rise in beahaviior, emotional and Learning problems. 40 years ago, 80% of kids went to bed on time, now it's 20%
I sleep so well these days. My newest med for pain Lyrica makes me dream and dream. They have mellowed out some now that I've been on it a while, but I must have lots of REM sleep.
I let TV determine what time I go to bed. If a good movie is on, or coming on, I stay up. If not, I take my OTC sleep med, and in 15 minutes, I'm gone.
Being retired, I get up when I want to. I always get at least 8 hours of sleep, some days more. I just let my body decide.

That's the really beautiful thing about not having to work. You don't usually have to set an alarm and be somewhere by a certain time, no matter what. You can sleep as much as you want to.
People who have truly fancy jobs seem to get away with working when the mood strikes them but most of us aren't so lucky.
Early morning is my fave time. I anticipate that when I retire in 6-8 weeks, I will still set the alarm. Love early morning. Night time just isnt as exciting to me,,,watching first light and sunrise over a quiet outdoors is something I love...or swimming while the sunrises. Very peaceful and quieting.
BBS, I moved to Myrtle Beach one summer, and arrived at first light, and walked down to the beach. The ocean was completely flat. No waves, and where the ocean met the beach, it lapped the beach with maybe a 3 inch tall wave. It was so surreal looking.
I never saw it that way again. Have you ever seen the ocean like that?

Early morning is truly a beautiful time of the day. However, I have become a night person, but only since MS became such a Monster in my life. For some reason I seem to feel better in the late afternoon and evening than in the early morning.
I have seen the ocean in the very early morning light and Howie is right, it is quite beautiful. Also, I can remember riding with my husband when we lived in Alexandria, Va and we both worked at the Pentagon. There was a small hill that we would top when we went a certain way and I could briefly see the Potomac and the cherry blossoms and it absolutely took my breath away.
