OT,, what do you like about fall ?

Yes, Abby, I am 30-40 miles from Santa Fe, depending on whether I am driving to the north part of town or the south part. There IS beauty here, but I miss the water of Puget Sound and Lake Washington.

I guess it all depends on what you like. I know someone who moved away from Seattle about 15 years ago to New Mexico--just because she found the Puget Sound region's rainy winters too depressing.

I was born and raised on the east coast but I would be very happy to spend the rest of my life in the Colorado Fire on the mountain Those Aspens this time of year take my breathe away

I finally found something good about MS! When I farmed full time (and worked in town full time) Fall was the busiest time of the year I never had time to notice anything except that I was running out of time to get crops in. Now I notice that the leaves in the Maple tree in the front yard are really pretty and the riding mower mulches them and I never need to even get the rake out of the shed!

When I worked for the Oregon Dept of Corrections it seemed like all I did was travel to Portland and Salem which are on the other side of the state from us and one thing I could never get used to was the RAIN ! Our side of the state is high desert and 10 inches of rain all year is about all we get.

Fall has always been a favorite time of year for me, especially since DH and I were wed at the end of September, 1969. He passed away in Jan, 2004 and it is soooooooo hard to go through a FALL, without him.:o

Gary, I am in the high desert, too. We have been having wonderful rains the past few days--making up in part for the drought of the Spring and Summer (remember our big fire?)

Sally, I understand how things can remind you of your late husband. Me too. So MANY things shared with him are now faced without him. He died on January 6, 2009, Epiphany.

We had fog this evening, something I have never seen here. It was raining slightly still, and chilly.
Fog reminds me of Tillamook Head in Oregon, on the coast, where we went every summer when I was a child, to Seaside.
