(OT) Eclipse?

I've been trying for over an hour to sign up to see it online, and I give up!!! It's 90 degrees, and I'm not going outside. I saw one as a kid, and still remember it, and that will do. I will look out the window, and see how dark it gets.

Did you get to see it? All major tv networks had the event on most of the day.

Yes, I watched it on TV. So in my life, I've seen one with a viewing box, and another on TV. I plan to live one hundred and twenty six more years, and see the next one that crosses through here.

We saw it. The dimming of light was to the extent that you felt like you had on sunglasses

About 30 minutes before it was to "arrive" here ... at about 81% coverage --- it cleared up! The forecast had been for cloudy and storms.... Anyway, TC had a welder's helmet with #14 lens in it (the only recommended lens), so we were able to sit out on our porch and see it! Really neat! I had seen a partial eclipse in 1979, but didn't have glasses then, only the viewer box thing...and it wasn't on TV like it was yesterday.

So we watched the TV coverage first, as it arrived in Colorado...then moved across the country..and then it cleared up here, so sat out and watched it here...then back inside to the TV. It did get like dusk here, when it was at the peak, and the temperature dropped about 4 degrees (87 when it started, 84 when it ended) so not significant, but it was neat to watch, anyway.

Did you see the really neat NASA photos...of the space shuttle, the sun, and the moon, all in one shot? The sun is partially covered, the shuttle (and some sun spots) evident. really beautiful shot.

The next one that might impact our area will be in 7 years....Don't know that I'll be here, but mark your calendars, youngsters! :)
