MSAA offering help to persons with MS impacted by hurricane Harvey

An e-mail from the MSAA says that they've located nearly 1,000 people with MS in the area of Texas impacted by hurricane Harvey. If you know anyone in that area, you might want to get this information to them if you can:

More than 300,000 people in Texas could be without power, which is necessary for key disability support items like air conditioning, medication storage, or accessible transportation. The Multiple Sclerosis Association of America has identified almost 1,000 people with MS living in the region who may be impacted by the storm. Someone with MS who is displaced is at risk of running out of their medications, losing mobility equipment, and not having access to their care team. Please alert family and friends living with MS who have been displaced that MSAA has programs that can help them. MSAA can help with finding an MS specialist, accessing patient-assistance programs, or locating emergency services in their area. If you are living with MS and have been impacted by Hurricane Harvey, please contact us for help with the following:

    • Toll-free Helpline at 800-532-7667. ...Our team will help identify MS healthcare professionals, MS Centers, and local services
    • My MS Resource Locator (Only registered and activated users can see links., Click Here To Register...): This online tool can help displaced people find MS resources in their area

I had thought so often of these people. Thanks for posting this Agate. To be in that situation and be disabled or sick or elderly is just more that a person could take sometimes. I do hope they are able to get help to all the people they can find. I guess it is a good reason to sign up with the MS Society. Even though they are not the ones doing this, they may be giving out some of the names and addresses.

The MS Society has a popup announcement stating that they are offering to direct people to resources in connection with the hurricane:

I'm glad to know that these two organizations are going to be there for people.
