They're less impressive than I'd like them to be but I'm finding that nowadays I no longer need to limit my physical activity to one job a day.

For a long time, on a day when I did laundry I wouldn't wash floors or vacuum or do any other task requiring moving around. But yesterday I did a hefty load of laundry and put it away and later did the kitchen floor on my hands and knees, something I do only every few years. The day before I had done the vacuuming in a sketchy kind of way. All of this didn't add up to very many steps but muscles were in use.

That's great! What changed that you can now do more than one chore in a day?

My back is improving slowly. I was able to do simple stretching for a couple of minutes this morning. And walked about 80 steps. It's a good start.

It might be the cooler weather, or it could be that keeping at the PT exercises for well over a year now has slowly built me up to the point where I can last longer at physical activities.

Back injuries seem to take a very long time to heal. Hope your pain will start subsiding soon.

Agate, when you get on your hands and knees to do the floor, do you use something for your knees to keep from getting knee problems? I use to do that to clean the grout, but due to knee problems can no longer do it.

Go to Amazon, and in the search box, put "Knee pads for cleaning". They have several kinds, pretty inexpensive.

I couldn't get along without my kneeling pad. The one that I had for 25 years is starting to crumble, and I just replaced it with a new one. I don't do the floors that way much any more but use the kneepad whenever I have to get down on the floor. It gets quite a bit of use.

One reason I was so ambitious about doing the floors on my knees was to try out the new kneepad. I'm still trying to decide whether it's good enough for me to toss the old one out. So far, it's doing OK.

                  It's this one:

Agate, looks interesting. Of course, I would still have the problem of getting up and down multiple times and I couldn't do that unless I have something to pull up with. I use to do a yoga pose that got me up, but when knees started giving me problems I gave that up.

There are kneeling pads that have long handles on each side, for pulling yourself up.

I've never tried one of those. I make sure I'm near some counter or other piece of furniture that I can use to pull up on.

Today is first time since attack started @3 weeks ago I swam

It’s getting cooler;pool was 79F. I kept the swim very short, 6 minutes, 160 Yards, 1.5 football fields. I wore neoprene top and neoprene pants, which added more physicality in terms of peeling it off and hosing it down.

I can see what I lost. The mere walk back to the house was uncomfortable. Thank you SPS.

Can’t figure out how I will swim at the heated public pool in winter. It’s @50-100 metered from car to pool, and back. Another hike to locker room. And have to hoist self out of pool and then stand up as there’s no stairs, only ladders which I can’t do.

Will try it and see as soon as my old pool is too cold...soon.

Bbs, is there a JCC or Y in your vacinity? The JCC here has a lift. There is a wait for membership but if you have a disability you go to the top of the list.

BBS, you are back out there - good for you! Maybe by the time you need to go to public pool you will be stronger. We will all hope for exactly that.

Very proud of you! And actually all of us - Agate keeps on with her exercises as well as her steps, Ann does PT and long, long shopping trips and walking back from bus stop, etc. Even Howie cooks some now.

Yes! We are all trying in diff ways!

My public pool has a lift. If desperate can use it. Just don’t know if can do all the walking. And the 10 min drive after. Will try! It is a matter of about a week before my pools too cold. My new house will have a heater :)
