EZ Lite Cruiser...electric wheelchairs...foldable

I stumbled across this today. I have an EZ golf cart which I use on the farm. Must be the same company. So, look up EZ Lite Cruiser. If you do that on Amazon you can read customer reviews.

Cost seems to run from $2,000.00 to $2500.00. I am just beginning to check it out. Thinking of replacing my foldable wheelchair with this motorized one??? Who knows. The farming season here is still going on. Busy...busy...busy

Laz, how will you get it in and out of your vehicle without killing your back?

I am a farmer and very strong!
I get my electric scooter and my Segway in and out of my car with a suitcase ramp. I did use ATV ramps for one of them because that ramp was more useful in that situation. So, I power them up the ramp. Scooters are useful because the tiller falls down so you don't need as much height in the vehicle. Actually, a small scooter is easier to manage in and out of car.

My manual wheelchair is very light weight. Titanium ?
I forget the weight but it is easy for me to fold and put in my car.
Otherwise, there is something you get installed in the back of your car. When you press a button an arm comes out and then you just put the hook at the end of the arm onto your scooter. Push another button and your scooter is lifted up and can be placed wherever you want.

Very much so, thanks. Medicare will buy an aluminum scooter, but not titanium apparently. Anyone know any different?

The manual chair I got through Medicare a few years ago is aluminum and weighs 31 lbs. though it's said to be lightweight. I didn't think to ask about a titanium version. Anything titanium tends to be pricey, I think.

Agate guessed it, titanium is much lighter and stronger than aluminum, but much more expensive.

Joy got a titanium wheelchair but maybe that was with regular insurance before she got Medicare.

Just as an aside, I think it's nice that we're freely discussing wheelchairs and other mobility aids here. So often they aren't mentioned much on an MS board, but after all they are often part of the picture for us, and there is a bewildering array of options to choose from out there. Getting it right is a big issue when it comes to mobility aids, and some of these companies seem to be taking advantage of the insurance coverage to fit people up with a chair or scooter without paying much attention to that person's particular lifestyle.

Linda, there is a detailed review of this wheel chair on Amazon that says it only works on hard surfaces. That is doesn't work on grass, dirt or gravel.

My med supply store rep told me that with the wheels etc, the titanium only weight @3lbs less.

Medicare won’t pay for titanium. I was willing to pay out of pocket, ouch, for the ability to be able to hoist it in and out of car. But it sounds like it would still be pretty heavy.

I learned my lesson with lifting wc at store a few weeks ago, still having back problems, although improving a lot.
