    Resilience: interesting articles

These articles were thought provoking, especially since I have been working on this with my rapidly increased disabling condition. I think all of us practice it to some extent.

    Hi!
I replied to Dave's newsletter but my response ended up on his Facebook page because I do not know what I am doing!

Anyway, here is my response to that ActiveMSers thread.

"Since the day of my MS diagnosis I have, by nature, zinged left or right as soon as I ran into a figurative (or literal) brick wall. I don't know why I am like this but this aspect of my nature has been the most useful part of this struggle for me. So, 27 years later, I am still farming and enjoying all the trials of figuring out how to climb on a tractor when my left leg is heavy but my right one is dancing. Fighting the good fight really is possible."

Thanks for posting your reply, Linda. You're certainly showing that with determination and planning, a person with MS can do even difficult things.

I wasn't sure what "self-compassion" meant but after some digging around I learned that it means just what you might think: the ability to forgive yourself for mistakes, failures, shortcomings you think you've been guilty of.
        SPMS diagnosed 1980. Avonex 2001-2004. Copaxone 2006-2009. Glatopa (glatiramer acetate = Copaxone) 12/20 - 3/19/24.

Agate, thanks for the definition of "self-compassion". I have learned some of that through this forum and people like you, Ann and BBS and others who at times have encouraged me to do what I need to do for myself and not what is expected of me by others.
