    JEFF SESSIONS

Every time he opens his mouth, Jeff Sessions proves who he is. Here’s his defense against the accusation that the immigrant detention camps are similar to Nazi concentration camps.

“Well, it’s a real exaggeration, of course,” Sessions replied. “In Nazi Germany, they were keeping the Jews from leaving the country. But this is a serious matter.”

Lie, lie, lie, lie. All lies all the time.

I heard a reporter state that the immigrant parents were told that their children were going to be bathed, as their children were wrenched from their arms.

The Nazis told Jews that they were going to have a shower, but they failed to mention the shower would be gas.

    No. No similarities whatsoever here.

Meanwhile, over 600 Methodist clergy and lay members brought church charges against Sessions.

Good for them! But I doubt that Jeff Sessions cares. He’s got power now, and he’s reveling in it. Plus, the detention camps seem to have stopped DT’s snarking tweets about Jeff.

SUMMER CAMP VS NAZI CONCENTRATION CAMP

In refuting Laura I’s obscene comment about the detention camps being like “summer camp,” an MSNBC host today said, “A child goes to summer camp with free will and parents’ approval. Kids at summer camp have activities and are outside more than 2 hours a day. They don’t sleep in cages. Their parents know where they are, and they know they will see their parents again.”

    And then, there was this:

    BYE BYE HUMAN RIGHTS COUNCIL

The U.S. withdrew from the U.N. Human Rights Council:

    VIRGINIA ~

I’m with you. All of this is overwhelmingly stressful and frightening. I’m so angry, I think I am spitting nails now. I cry a lot too, every time I read something, see photos, watch the news.

I’m trying to meter it, but it’s so difficult with so many new, horrible things being said and nothing honorable being done. Bickering between parties, lies, blame, while children and parents suffer. They came here to escape violence, poverty, and unlivable conditions.

Every parent’s greatest fear is the death of their child. Their second greatest fear is having their child taken away from them. I’ve faced both of these fears, from my heartless, greedy, selfish ex husband and a greedy unforgiving System, which tried to force my boys into an institution.

I prevailed, because I had the resources to fight for them. These parents have nothing. At most, they committed a misdemeanor by entering the U.S. “illegally.” (I put that in quotes, because the Statue of Liberty does not mention legal entry.) Nor does it use the term, "aliens" to describe human beings.

They are being characterized falsely as criminals, drug lords, sex traffickers. Their only hope is the ACLU and other lawyers, advocates, clergy, and any elected official with guts and a heart, to fight for them. But these immigrants probably aren’t even aware that we are all furious about this and trying to help them.

I truly am ashamed to be an American today.

And after what I went through with the Primary Election and my ballot, plus provisional ballots and broken machines for people, who are visually impaired, in my district, I wonder if I’ll even get to vote in the Mid-Terms. Or if my vote will reach the proper destination to be counted. It doesn’t matter whether I go to the polls or vote by mail, my trust has been destroyed.

So my battle cry: Vote Them Out! rings hollow now.

When DT first won, people were telling us to “give him time,” “see how he does.” Well, how much more time do we need to know that our nation is crumbling?

Yet, his poll numbers are up.

    Imagine that.

Nuthatch, I didn't take your advice. I watched "the witch" and again just wanted to reach through the screen and put a gag in her mouth. If there is one person who gets on my very last nerve it is Kellyanne (mom, catholic, conscience-less). Who is she kidding?

Thanks Rose for your post. You say so much of what I am feeling. We are up against an authoritarian administration, and we don't know what to do. As long as I have been watching Rachel Maddow I have never seen her become emotional like she did tonight. She had to stop and was unable to get through what had just come in about "Tender age" detention centers that have been set up for little babies and toddlers. I don't think anyone here recognizes this country right now. We are closed off from our allies and the countries who we have supported and who have in the past supported us. While Kim of N. Korea goes once again to China to meet with their President. What's up with them? What's going on with anyone anymore?

KA Conway is just an unlikable person. I feel my blood pressure rising every time I hear her and I have to change the channel or mute it. She must be horrified that her husband is speaking out against her boss in logical, legal terms.

KA is just such a poor communicator. She is bombastic, argumentative, never makes any sense and acts like she's a victim of the media instead of responsible for her own public identity.

I just can't listen to her nonsense, she doesn't even further her own position. If she did, I'd at least be able to respect her while disagreeing with her.

Like Rose, just when I think that it can't get any worse, somehow this Administration finds a way to makes things even worse than I imagined possible. Like Cat and Sunshine, it's no longer a matter of just gritting teeth and waiting him out. Cat, you speak for many.

Like Rose, I too would like to know how Xi is manipulating Un against the US towards his goal of world domination. Other actors continue to gleefully plot while the US is mired in internal crisis and its attention is distracted.

Perhaps you meant Japanese internment camps?

Concentration camps usually refer to the Holocaust prisons were Jews were starved to death, gassed, tortured...such as Auschwitz.

Now that the Republicans have forced the admin to stop this policy, do you think they will be emboldened and rein him in i other ridiculous issues as well?

Sunshine, my best guess is that it will not. This is a stop gap measure to allow him to regroup and get everyone back in line. They want the wall built with our money. It will continue to go on for a long time. With several thousand children in the system, how long will it take to try and get them back to their families. What I wonder is how hard will they try? I am feeling better than I did, but there are still things that are unclear in my mind.

One of the things that I am not clear on is if they continue to slow walk the people that are trying to get in at the port of entries and making them sleep for a couple of weeks on the bridges, how many will give up and try to cross at places where they are not supposed to. They will still be illegal. Does this mean that their children can still be taken away or not? I have not heard anyone say, but was busy much of today. Can anyone answer this?

Virginia, all I've seen on the news is the White House occupant signing his name on a piece of paper. What's in the document and how the details are going to be worked out--nobody seems to know yet.

According to this Washington Post article, any families caught crossing the border illegally are still going to be prosecuted but they can keep their families with them. I have a strong suspicion that the process at the ports of entry will continue to be so difficult that many will try to enter illegally.

What this order accomplishes is now the government can throw both parents and children in JAIL indefinitely. Before today's signing, it was just the parents in jail.....And the kids shipped around the country. Babies (a6 month old and an 11 month old are now in Michigan in a foster care home, for example). So we now have criminals as young as 6 months old. There is nothing in place to assure that parents will ever see their children again. There is nothing in place to make sure that, if they report the parent, that the child goes too.

Brutal. Inhumane. We didn't learn our lessons about concentration camps, nor the Japanese -American internment camps....And now doing it again. Horrible. Immoral. A strike against decency and humanity.

                          Sunshine ~

As long as there are DT supporters, like the woman in Duluth today awaiting a DT rally, who believe that refugees fleeing violent and abusive countries should be locked in cages, and who still chant “Lock her up” before his rallies, I think the Republicans up for re-election will continue to be silent to get votes from DT’s base.

DT’s base seems not only to believe his lies, even when they’ve obviously been proven as false, but they drink his Kool Aid concoction of hate and bigotry. It takes a lot of love to combat that. How much love does America have?

The White House is claiming that Ivanka and especially Melania are responsible for the executive order. It’s notable that suddenly Melania is in the limelight, while still hidden from us. DT keeps lavishing praise on Melania. My hinky meter is beeping loudly. Something is not copacetic here.

Stories are breaking now about a child with Down Syndrome separated from his parents, children being drugged without permission, and little girls being carted to a detention center in the middle of the night. Of course, there are many infants, who are separated from their mothers at the most critical time in the mother-child bonding process. Some children have been shipped to foster families in different states.

DT’s executive order doesn’t stop the internment of refugees. It purportedly only stops separation of parents from children. So, families will be incarcerated together? And now, military bases are being considered as refugee prisons. Ugh!

Meanwhile, the bureaucratic nightmare of finding and reuniting children with parents is probably unfathomable to us. I have enough experience with assorted governmental agencies related to my sons to know how messed up things can get. And this situation will be a bureaucratic catastrophe. I can foresee it taking years to reunite some families, with some families never being reunited. I pray that I am wrong.

To quote an MSNBC host today, "How does a 6 month old baby tell you who his parents are?”

Because we’re always in crisis in America, Americans tend to have short memories. Americans get all revved up after a school shooting, and a week later, they’re over it. Until the next one. They’re deeply entrenched in the whole Russia collusion Mueller investigation, but they have time for diversions like adult film stars. How many Americans care about the number of Puerto Ricans, who have died, and the living, who still have no power or water since the hurricane?

So, this horrific stain on America, which is troubling all of us here to the point of tears and enormous stress, will likely be forgotten in a few months. But then, Mid Terms are only 5 months away. If the free press and the Democrats keep talking about it, maybe it will be enough to turn the tide.

Steve Schmidt, who worked for President Bush and ran John McCain’s campaign (and brought us Sarah Palin, for which he has apologized profusely many times), denounced his membership in the Republican party. In a series of tweets, he eviscerated DT and the GOP. We need more Steve Schmidts.

                          Let’s keep hope alive!

Prayers continuing for the children and their parents ~

It's all smoke and mirrors to quell the uprising against this "policy" of DT's and Sessions, which was so easy to initiate without Congressional approval. The executive order doesn't help the 2,300 children already imprisoned, and since facilities will have to be found or built to accommodate future refugees, it won't help them either. Who is going to pay for the construction of camps for refugees? Maybe we could send the bill to Guatemala and Honduras, since Mexico is already supposed to foot the bill for the Wall.

And,I don't believe for one second that DT would listen to anything Melania has to say. Ivanka, probably. Melania, nope.
