Don't know why, but it is hard to stay erect today. Exhausted. Perhaps the humidity that just rolled back in after yesterday's rain is the culprit. I'm with Sunshine....breads and pastas just pull me under.

I'm sorry that I didn't answer sooner. I get distracted ... a lot.

Jim takes 30 mg CBD oil via gel caps every day. He's added 10 mg more, now that he needs hard candy for dry mouth. Each small piece of candy has 10 mg CBD oil. While he gets some relief with Colgate Hydris mouthwash, the CBD candy provides longer relief and no chemicals. Unfortunately, it's just sugar and CBD. But it works.

It's become difficult to find the THC gel caps now, after California changed the laws to allow adult recreational use. Many dispensaries, especially delivery dispensaries, have not complied with the law with licensing. The manufacturer of the THC capsules will not do business with any unlicensed dispensary.

So Jim gets his THC through (m)edibles. He now has 10 mg hard candy with THC to replace the gel cap. I would estimate his average intake of THC would be 20-30 mg/day.

So, we've taken the approach of balancing CBD and THC, and it's working for him. We're doing this all on our own. We don't have a doctor or professional guiding us. We decided to increase his CBD intake last year, realizing that it was helping him. We're fighting Stage IV cancer, so we need all of the ammunition we can get. It doesn't seem to be impacting or interacting with Opdivo or his steroids. In fact, Jim's oncologist attributes Jim's overall health to CBD and THC.

We also treat symptoms as they occur, with both steroids and CBD/THC. We've found that to be the best way to continue the efficacy of both. If Jim can't sleep, or has anxiety, then we add more THC. If Jim has RA pain, then we add CBD, and adjust the steroid dose. We have a minimum per day and a maximum, and we work between them as needs arise.

We just don't have a hard and fast dosage, aside from at least 5 mg Prednisone as maintenance/day.

Confused? I know. This approach has worked for us and our boys, so we're just going with it with Jim's cancer journey. And it is working remarkably well.

Someone from there reached out to me today to see if I would be willing to serve on a Medical Advisory Board to promote research into Medical uses for Cannabis in different forms. He started out in the Cancer arena and is now working with people with MS. Some of the videos on his YouTube channel are pretty good and his personal story is pretty convincing. Videos available at the website posted. Being in a State that is legal for medical but never having applied for a license or card, this is pretty new to me but I would like to get whatever education I can to help answer questions that folks have.

I am not familiar with Canna Causes. There are so many producers of CBD and THC products now, it’s mind boggling. Of course, everyone is getting on the bandwagon now, because CBD is The Thing. Lots of $$$$$ to be made.

With regard to educating yourself on the benefits of cannabis in treating MS, I recommend that you research on the internet, and that you chat with Sunshine. Check out her MMJ forums for SPS and MS.

I don’t have any knowledge beyond what I’ve gleaned from the internet and Jim’s experience. His oncologist does believe that CBD and THC have benefited Jim in fighting cancer.

But Jim doesn’t have an MMJ doctor. In CA, it’s so easy to get a recommendation and card. Online for $40-60, effective instantly. With that, Jim has a one time 10 minute conversation with an MMJ doctor on the phone. That’s primarily because his case is interesting.

A close friend, now a cancer survivor, met face to face with an MMJ doctor. He asked her what she did for a living. She said, “I’m retired.” That was it. She got her rec and card. At the time, she was quite ill from chemo, which was obvious to the doctor.

I wish we did have a professional, who could advise Jim on what to take and how much. As it is, we just wing it.

It’s great that you have an opportunity to work with cannabis providers to help people with MS. I hope it works out well.

The company I use is Surterra. But it’s only available in florida and Texas right now. You could try calling and ask what THC to Cbd ratio they rec for cancer.

Thank you Rose and Sunshine. Dr Ben Thrower in Atlanta sent me his way. He uses this company almost exclusively now for his patients who need medical Cannabis products. The guy is a cancer survivor and has been a legal grower in CA for 15 years and a user for about 25 years prior to that. My brother recommends that anyone who is interested in the history behind the plant and products being banned read "The Emperor Wears No Clothes" by Jack Herer. The colonies were founded on Hemp growing as a mandate for all of the uses the plant had. The Declaration and US Constitution were written on Hemp Paper. Until about 1930 it was an agricultural mainstay in the United States until Nylon was made and duPont used its lobbyists to do away with hemp as a fabric and outlaw the growing of the Cannabis plant. It was in that era that the term Marijuana was coined as a bad product and made illegal. From that day till now there has been a struggle to reclaim the varied uses of the plant in soaps and fibers and cloth and paper and rope and skin care ingredients and medicines. It has been used for all of these things in recorded history for more than 2500 years.

Remember last week I was having trouble with my car? The "running lights" were staying on, so I was unhooking the battery after each time I came home. Plus I had to hook the battery back up anytime I wanted to go out.

Well I went online to a PT Cruiser forum, and here was the same problem posted on it, and someone said, "just pull out the #8 fuse, and they will go out, and everything else will work."

So I did, and it did, and now I'm sitting with the lights off, the alarm on, and Howie is smiling! The internet comes through for me again!!!

Next thing you know, Howie will have Pinky up and running with the help of the Internet.

I have the parts to fix Pinky, but have to wait on the cooler temps to be able to work on it. It was 87 when I went out to fix the Cruiser today, but it didn't take 5 minutes. Pinky will take MUCH longer.

Jack Herer is highly revered in the MJ world. There is a strain of MJ named after him, as well as hybrids. Most dispensaries have at least one form of Jack Herer in flower, vapes, edibles, etc.

Does Canna Causes only deal with CBD oil, or do they also have THC options?

Jon's nurse cares for a cancer patient in her 90s, for whom no pharmaceuticals have helped. She now takes CBD first thing in the morning, and she's better. I think she's also taking THC, because she was nauseous and unable to eat.

I feel that this is the wave of the future, and your involvement will help to pioneer the movement toward replacing chemicals with cannabis.

California is on fire. Blazes in Northern California's gold mining region, Yosemite, and now Idyllwild in Southern California.

Having lived here most of my life, I've spent many wonderful weekends in the mountains. Big Bear, Running Springs, Wrightwood ... but my favorite is Idyllwild.

Idyllwild is serene with magnificent vistas. From the moment you approach its small town to the moment you leave, it is inspiring. I felt instant peace when I was there. The townsfolk are lovely people. I have many treasured memories of the times I've spent there, and the people, with whom I shared that time.

It hurts my heart that this sacred place is burning. It's even more painful to know that an arsonist, who has been arrested, set this fire. This was not an act of God or the result of our drought. This was a crime.

What possesses a person to set fire to a forest? To displace people? Destroy their homes and all of their belongings and memories? To kill people, who can't escape?

The fire is only about 5% contained, and temperatures are still scorching in some areas. Thankfully, the temperatures are dropping, and the wind is slowing. But our firefighters are exhausted, and the ranks are growing smaller.

I wish that there was more that I could do than pray.

I hope they get the person who set that fire Rose. What a wicked and mean thing to do.

Well, I had just great fun today - not! I have had a big red swollen place on my eyelid this week. I am talking really big and ugly. Today I went to the Optho that I have been seeing for my eyes for years. A gland is stopped up and has caused this. I was already putting warm compresses on it, he said to continue that. He gave me antibiotics, and something to put on the lip of the lid at bedtime. He also put a shot in my eyelid. He told me to hold very still and try not to move, which I did. He said I did not move or even flinch one time while he was doing it.

If that does not cure it he will then have to do something that I can hardly bare to think of. He will turn my eyelid inside out and clamp it so I can't close it and cut it out. The thought of that disturbs me greatly. It will take between 1 and 2 weeks before we know if he will have to do it.

That's heart-breaking, Rose--such a magnificent area burning. I hope they can contain it.

Virginia, I hope that the treatment works for your eyelid sore. Maybe a second opinion if it looks as if surgical removal is going to be done? I'm sure it's not as risky as having your actual eye operated on, but I can understand being uneasy about it. If you know your eye doctor and feel that he's competent, you're probably in good hands--and probably won't feel a thing because they will anesthetize the area.
