OT August Chit Chat

Virginia, I had a halfway decent neuro appointment today, got a referral to a neurosurgeon regarding the potential hydrocephalus (as CT scan was read) and one to a neuro-opthalmologist about my weird vision problems. I also got 2 rx refills ordered, 1 being Rituxan, I should hear within a week when I'll be getting my next infusion. I've had 2 or 3 infusions so far, I don't remember.

Jendie, glad the appointment went pretty good and also very happy you got referrals that you obviously need. Hope the Rituxan infusion can be given soon.

Asking for thoughts and good vibes for my older brother tonight. He fell today and his hip is either broken or something was done to the femur. It is hard to get information. His wife, when she text, sends a text to one of his 4 children and then they talk among themselves about what to do and who might go, etc. Then they text one of my brothers here and then that brother calls me and the brother who did not hear anything. I am very anxious. It is hard to concentrate or do anything.
Last I heard he was in a hospital in Buford, S.C. and they were trying to find a hospital who would take him for surgery. Savannah is the closest and they are full and said they couldn't take him. They were trying Charleston, S.C. and since then we have not heard anything.

I went out to get my hair cut and colored this afternoon and before that I went to grocery store. The weather was pretty nice here today. We had heavy thunderstorm last night and it was some cooler today. Hate for it to heat back up.

What a day. I didn't sleep again last night, then slept all day today. I just woke up awhile ago. I didn't have coffee, and won't tonight. I'll stay up until 2am, then try to go back to sleep.

I'm having a thunderstorm, and getting a downpour that just started, even though the web weathercast says 20% chance on precipitation. Oh well. It has been getting dry, and we can use every drop.

Howie, I must be channelling you because I've been up all night the last 2 nights too and have been trying to turn it around because I'm just so tired during the day. Wish us both luck for tonight!

Virginia, sending your brother prayers and healing wishes! Hope they can find a good hospital to take him soon and the very best for a successful outcome. (((Hugs))).

Jendie, I hope you'll get only good news from the neurosurgeon.

Virginia, I hope for the best for your brother. If it's any comfort, one of my neighbors fell and broke one hip, recovered from that, and then fell and broke the other. She's doing well in spite of being nearly 90 and very small and frail-looking.

I'm still going. I think as long as I can find something to watch, then here I am. Weekdays have the best TV, and I have shows I hate to miss. I'm a Star Gate fan now, and there are two Outer Limits, back to back. One is the new shows, and the second are the old shows, in black and white.

I'm watching the Quest Channel, and watch it a lot. It's about life in Alaska now. I once wanted to move to Alaska, and "homestead". You just build a house, live there, and the property is yours. I don't even know if you can do that still. I couldn't even think about it now.

Where I live now is somewhat isolated. And I use 1 out of 3 bedrooms. The bathroom, and the kitchen. The other 2 rooms are what I call my "junk rooms". One has all the car parts for Pinky, and the other has JUNK in it. I hope one day, I can haul it all away, and just have a spare, empty room.

Well, let me get back to watching TV. GOOD MORNING ALL!

Virginia, I'm so sorry to hear about your brother! Broken hips are such a scary thing for folks our age! I hope you can get some reassuring news today.

Yes, hospitals can -- and do-- turn away patients, for all sorts of things. It's all about the $$.

Sorry about your brother and very sorry also for you waiting/searching for information. I understand that from my sister’s recent surgery. I finally just called and discovered everyone thought I had been getting all the messages. Instead of waiting I try to force myself to call....(I am always so afraid of bothering people!)

My youngest brother just picked up his phone this morning and called our brother in SC. on his cell phone. He answered, but the news is not good. He is in Savannah Hospital, and they are trying to get him a room in ICU. However, they cannot do high risk surgery at that hospital and that is what this is. They think now the falls are coming from his heart condition. My brother here said he had never heard him sound so weak. He is in a lot of pain and he is confused. He doesn't know where they are going to take him for surgery. My youngest brother says it does not sound good at this point. If I can find what I did with her number I am going to call one of his daughters that lives in N.C. I am just kind of going in circles and did not sleep. Maid called and is not coming this week.

Howie and Lazarus I have the answer to not sleeping good. I have a sleep mask that shuts out all light. I can't wear the elastic around my head but I sleep on my back and just put the mask over my eyes. Since I have been doing it at night I discovered I dream a lot. So I am getting REM sleep. Before I only used it when I took a nap during the day.

I got the mask at the grocery store. Several things in the bedroom (phone, TV, antenna, clock) have red lights or blue lights so it is not totally dark. Jeanie :)

Jeanie, when I had siding put on the place, I had them put the siding over all the windows in here (bedroom) and the bathroom right across the hall, so it always stays DARK in here. Plus, I have curtains just so it looks like I still have windows.
