    Bad fall

Hey all, I took a hard fall at home 5 days ago and landed on my right side. I fell on wall to wall carpet but it left some swelling on my upper chest and a long bruise under my arm. The swelling has subsided and the bruise is changing color so that’s on the mend too but I can’t put any pressure on my hand or if I bend a certain way my shoulder hurts just as bad. I have 3 appts lined up this week so I may have to wait to see my primary for a X-ray script. I know it’s not dislocated or I’d be unable to do anything but the way it’s described sounds like it is. I suppose it could be a torn ligament? Does anyone have any possible ideas what this could be??
Thanks for any feedback you may have.

Sounds like a fracture. I would go to urgent care to get the immediate referral for an X-ray. Or call the PCP and ask the nurse to get a referral for X-ray today. Always insist— you know your body, they do not. All they have is a chart and a note that your trying to get in to see them...

A doctor visit sooner or later is called for.
Sorry to hear about the fall and its aftermath.

So sorry you fell. Falls on wall-to-wall carpeting can be pretty bad, depending on what's under that carpeting and how thick the carpeting is. I agree that getting the injuries checked out would be best.

I agree. Sounds like a shoulder and possibly writs fracture. Very common in those of us who have had steroids.

            Sorry you are hurt, petpuppy.

We have recently talked about plans to prevent falls and how to get up if we fall. Also, how to summon help and whether it’s time for a Lifeline -like device.

            Best to you,
