Right, everyone here has known this about Sunshine for a long time but hearing it from your doctor, who sees all kinds of people in all kinds of situations, is really special.

I guess the Macy's 4th is getting ready to come on. I watched the DT one on C-Span. I love the Army band and chorus. The only other thing I can say is that there was a tremendous turn out on the mall. There was a sea of white faces, but I did not see many brown ones (maybe a handful at most). That just kind of stood out for me. There were a number of fly overs from each military service. I don't know where the tanks were. If anyone knows let me know, because I saw a picture earlier in the week of several on railroad tracks.

There were tanks. You'll see some here but I'm not sure of just where they were actually rolling along.

Thank you all for your good thoughts for us. We are fine, no damage. We're about 155 miles from the epicenter. Today Dr. Lucy Jones, seismologist, and California's friend after a quake for decades, confirmed that the duration in our area was likely 20 seconds, because we got the "wave effect."

I don't know whether Nuthatch would have been affected. It seemed that the waves traveled south and east. I hope you didn't feel it, Nuthatch, because it was definitely scary. I've been through so many, including Northridge. This one felt much closer and stronger than 155 miles away.

Dr. Lucy commented that they don't have the funds to upgrade the quake warning system. A reporter asked her whether they were sending their geologists to the epicenter to measure ground movement by helicopter. She laughed, "We can't afford helicopters. They're going by truck."

          Sunshine ~

Your doctor told you what I say to Jim, every time I update him on you. I could imagine all of the feelings flowing through you as he praised and elevated you. How wonderful for you to have a physician, who truly cares and understands and respects everything it takes for you to live your fullest life.

Praying for safe travels for your daughter, that you'll have IVIg soon, and that Augmenten clears your sinuses. Are you still concerned that Flomax is the culprit with your sinuses?

          VIrginia and agate ~

Jim saw a news report about the tanks being too heavy for the streets of D.C. He watched the video of wood planks being laid on the streets to prevent damage. Imagine how much those tanks weigh and what terrain they are intended to traverse. Our infrastructure is crumbling, so I doubt that the D.C. pavement could handle a bunch of tanks rolling down it.

HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY TO ALL!

          Love & Light,

Thanks Agate, I saw two in the pictures and there may have been more plus some armored vehicles somewhere in the city. I missed any parade that was held. All I saw was what took place at the Lincoln Memorial. For one thing, there was a fence that was put down in the reflection pool to keep people out who had not paid to see the event. The ones who had purchased tickets were in front of the fence and all others were in back of the fence.

Now, I would like to know where did the money go from tickets that were purchased? To whom did it go? What is it to pay for?

I did not see any marching or anything. The Army band and chorus is always good, but I must have missed something.

Sunshine, what your doc says is true and what you said about your husband, too. I’m glad you have them both.

We went to Legal Seafoods today and had roasted cod, potatoes and cauliflower. Very good. And I had half a beer, my first in over a year probably. Then we went to the Apple Store and Peter bought me a promised iPad Air for my past birthday. I love it. I have never used an iPad before. So far so good.

Watching Pops Goes the Fourth from the Esplanade on local TV. The national version is all cut up.

What did you eat to celebrate?

Rose, we were posting at the same time. I guess they just laid heavy wood planks down and got at least a couple to the Lincoln Memorial because I saw two in the pictures Agate posted.

I have heard a few fireworks in the past hour. Not many and none close, so no disturbance here. Hope it is the same for all of you, but especially those of you who have pets.

Ann, a ham and cheese sandwich with mustard and a chocolate yogurt bar for dessert.

I had salmon and poached pear salad last Sunday, so guess I had my 4th a little early. The salmon was so good this time that I can't stop thinking about it.

Virginia, thanks for reminding me of poached pears. I had one in Chicago once, I think it was Pear Helene, poached pear w cake inside and chocolate drizzled over it. That was at the Bakery Restaurant. One of those fixed menu places with two sittings an evening. A big treat.

Youngest and DH are fast asleep now. Youngest arrived 2 hours late at 2am across the state.

They drove all night awake to get home. I am very disappointed in the airline: they knew they were putting her on a flight that connected to a delayed flight but did it without telling her. And, put her in coach...

And the voucher for being bumped is a pittance. They lied twice to her. And gave her no money to pay for the extra food or offer to put her up in a hotel...wish she had flown Delta; They are a class act when someone is bumped.

But, I am grateful they arrived home in one piece after pulling the all nighter...

Will take an Ativan soon so I can enjoy the visit more, since it helps with walking and stiffening. Wish I could take it every day...

So sad that SPS impacts my family so hard. To know how painful it must be for my loved ones to witness my decline breaks my heart.

I didn't watch any of the coverage this year. Money spent on it could have better been spent getting the children out of cages, families re-united. Or a long list of other things instead of a military parade.

We had a quiet holiday, nothing special. Today, once the visiting nurse comes....And goes.....I'm going to be making a fruit cocktail and a vegetable salad to take to our friends....And neighbors...house to go along with the turkey dinner she's making. I can't tell the nurse this becAuse theoretically I'm not supposed to be leaving the house except for doctors appointments, or very special occasions.....

Yes, sunshine, I think that's a burden we all have to bear: knowing that we are a burden to our families...... Your doctor, by the way, sounds awesome.....

[FONT=Arial Black]:) Expecting an aide to help me bathe. First shower I will have had. I have gotten very good at bathing with a pan of water. I want to shampoo my hair for sure.

Went to Jim's and had a hot dog and a hamburger and some slaw, baked beans and birthday cake. Took Lacy and she was glad to see their dogs she stayed with when I was in rehab.

Could not use their bathroom but luckily my diaper stayed dry until I got home. All the neighbors were firing fireworks here and Lacy shook for hours. I tried to pet her to help but she still shook. I hope tonight will be quiet.

Sorry y'all had an earthquake. I experienced one years ago and it scared me enough that I would never go back to California. Take care everyone. Jeanie :)

Cat and Jeanie, I cannot tell you enough how wonderful it is to have you back and healing. I know the healing is tough going, but it sure is nice to see you back.

Re my PCP. Years ago he took care of my MIL when she was in a skilled nursing home after being run over by a car. He was medical director. We witnessed him spend 25 minutes sitting on her bed to get to know her. When he walked in he was told she couldn’t hear well. So he sat right by her and asked which ear she could better out of.

She was in love with him. He treated he like a human being. Not a chart. Not a nuisance. Not someone about to check out.

I think his spiritual beliefs are Buddhism.

nuthatch, I hope you'll check in. It looks as if you might have felt that earthquake--?

Concerned about Nuthatch and her family. There have been so many aftershocks today on top of the quake. I know her son and family, along with little Everette
were coming about this time. Don't know if they are still there or not.

Went to get nails done today, then to K-Mart to pick up prescription, then to bank and then to UPS and grocery store. I parked closer to the UPS than the grocery store and for some unknown reason I decided to walk to the grocery when I left the UPS. Not far, but too far for me almost. I had decided to get only one item in the grocery store and go back Sunday. I ended up with three, as I walked past on my way to the back to get milk. I checked myself out and walked back to car. I would guess that the total amount of walking might have been two blocks which is quite a bit for me. I take small, slow steps so it might not be that far, but I think it is. Then I went to Poppyseed Market and bought myself some dinner.
