Sunshine, I am concerned about you. I do wish you could get some help. But you keep pushing and you are doing well as far as that goes.

Today, I went to the drive thru bank and drive thru pharmacy, then went inside the pharmacy to get a few items. Then went to Harris Teeter to get a few items. They were located on the same side of the store so I didn't go all over the store, but then I stopped at Lowe's Foods. They carry a cheese that H.T. does not. I decided to get a few more items, so I did walk quite a bit in the store. From there I came home, made two trips in to carry everything. After that I made 1 trip out back to take the trash out and two to take the recycling out. Still my step count is at this point not good. I will be walking more before bed time, so I will wait to post it.

        My back is killing me.

Maybe you can make up for the steps on a better day. It sounds as if you took quite a few steps today regardless of what the step count turned out to look like. I do think that the fabric a person is wearing matters. The position the pedometer is in matters too. It needs to be lined up with your thighbone, or so I've heard. Mine isn't always lined up that way because it's in a pocket. People who put the pedometer on their waistbands probably can line it up better but that doesn't work for me. I have trouble attaching it.

I think Agate got part of my step counts for today. After going to two grocery stores, one drugstore, 4 trips to my car, 3 trips to trash and recycling, plus numerous trips inside my house I have now got 1264 steps on my pedometer. I might get close to 1400 since I have things left to do tonight. I just don't get it.

I swam today. After the shower, I had a spasm putting on my sock. So I rested a while, then I made the crust for the fish (easy). Now I am resting some more. Just took my scheduled spasm meds and am waiting for it to kick in and then, I will move to my bed and rest my legs.

Lately, sleep has been disrupted by such stiffening in my legs and feet that it’s painful. I see my neuro Monday in person. A friend will take me.I think you get more out of in person than telemedicine on certain issues: So much to talk about ,and I want him to see me in person.

Wed. Is the CT scan of lungs.

I dropped a bill off at the mailbox, picked up a novel at the book box and talked to a man I met before about his very tall tomatoes. He was harvesting a large bowl full and handed me two. I knew immediately that the yellow one was a Dad’s Sunset heirloom. He was impressed. (Big smile under my mask).

I made a big loop, avoided streets with darting kids and logged over 1400 steps.

I am sure it helps preserve muscle and function.

Yesterday I had errands to do. My phone says I walked 1.4 miles. I think it’s accurate and happy that for now that’s possible. I just can’t count on it or plan for it. I’ll take the gift.

This morning I swam. I now swim differently due to SPS creating spasticity in my feet and shins. I swim freestyle for a bit until the feet act up, then I swim breast stroke without moving my legs or feet, and by going slower, its less of a drag on the feet. So, I cannot do a 1/2 mile, but I am doing , still, 27 minutes of a good cardiovascular workout and arm work out.

Then the trick is to get to the shower with my spasticity. I found that putting on my sox will cause a spasm after the shower, so now I wait until I can be at the bed and slowly move them over the feet.

Today I swam 27 minutes. Tricky with spasticity
Yesterday I walked 1100 steps, mostly after 2pm due to meds.

Sunshine, in spite of all your problems you do so well. I have only been to 1100 steps or close maybe 3 times this month. I have tried, but the next day it is not worth it. You and Agate amaze me.

It’s not just effort, its the disease, some days one cannot walk at all, lucky to sit up, other days, plenty of walking.
