    Recliner for sick people

I need a recliner that goes all the way back, almost as flat as a bed, and can come up to read etc. DH also thinks we should get one where when you want to get off the chair, it rises almost to a standing position. Sounds helpful.

Does anyone here have one? Comments? He might buy it today as he saw one yesterday that fit the bill for $900. Fake leather kept the price down. Attractive enough. He found it wile I was in IVIG and took pics for me.

We have one that reclines all the way back, I don't use it in that position, but my husband does occasionally as it helps his bad back. When possible, I do sit in it and recline back quite a ways. I have learned how to get up using my rollator, but I have to be careful, since it is also a rocking chair, which can get a little tricky with my strength and balance issues.

I have seen the ones that help you stand, which is something that would come in handy for me. Presently, it would not be worth the investment, as I am rarely in the living room. I imagine it will be very helpful for you. I saw the chair in the same catalog that I ordered my upright walker. It is great that your husband was able to find one in your area. I am sure you will enjoy it.

I have had numerous recliners during the years. I haven't been without one since the 1970s. I have seen the ones that help you stand when you get out of them, but if I remember correctly, I think they have to be plugged into electricity and I didn't want a cord coming out of mine. Also, at the time I didn't feel I needed it.
Like DAR mine is a rocker as well as a recliner. I wouldn't know how to do without a recliner.

We looked into the recliner that helps get you upright for my father. The visiting nurse told us that they are really heavy and that depending where you are going to put it you might need to have a structural engineer OK the weight. And, they do need to be plugged in.

        Best of luck with yours.

Yes, they are electric, by choice for me. DH said the handle may be hard to handle if the SPS goes to the arm.

Thank you all for your comments. :)
