Just happened by and saw this. Thank you so much. It just does not seem like it is 14 years since Emily came in to our lives. Wow how time has flown by.
She recently had an infection in her spine. For some reason unknown to us all, she developed a staph type infection. Her last teathered spinal cord surgery was four years ago. A cyst developed and filled with nasty staph. She was in the hospital for a week and upon her release we had to deal with packing the open wound and a pic line for six weeks. All is well now. It was just another saga in the life with Spina Bifida. Nolan is doing wonderfully. He had a new shunt placed last year. He had much difficulty with headaches and his surgeon placed a shunt made out of two actual systems. It has only been tried and failed on one adult. Nolan is the first pediactric patient with this system and so far, almost a year and it is a success. Won't go into my own update. You all know where I am at. Inoperable and still deteriorating and losing function. Enough said. Hope you are well and the New Year has been good to you. ;)

No! She can't be that old!! She's just wittle and adorable and doesn't she know she's making me feel really old,lol!! My niece turns ten Sunday so I'm practicing my speech for her ;)

Actually, I'm very happy to hear she's getting older, for that means she is giving you another year of complete love and joy :o

Thanks for the short update too, it's nice to hear from some old friends now and then. Sorry to hear you aren't doing so well but I think that's got a lot to do with being mom, we always take care of everyone else first, and the good Lord knows you have had plenty of other stuff all these years. You have my prayers Anna, as you always have. You can always pop in and unload here anytime you need us, remember that. Spinies are forever!
