    Cervicogenic dizziness?

A real spinal question, I must be drinking. LOL!

So, cervicogenic dizzy spells are controversial. Many doctors don't believe they exist. Not sure I do either.

But...I may have been struck by them, maybe not....I've been having a light-headed, whoozy feeling, a few times almost fell -- usually after lifting head to look upward. Started about a week ago, was fairly bad for a couple of days, thankfully over the weekend and has now mostly disappeared, although still about a little bit -- very, very mild and only when I bend... or, for some reason, when I turn quickly in the shower???

Strange, huh? Well, I did quit "cold turkey" all alcohol consumption a couple of days before this occurred, so I was not sure if they were related.

However, I also thought it might be related to wax impacting the inner ear, so I poured straight hydrogen perioxide into each ear canal and let it sit for five minutes -- lot of snap, crackle and popping went on, but not sure if it cleared anything out -- however symptoms did seem to lessen significantly within a few hours of doing this....so...

Anyway, anyone else wonder if any dizzy spells they may have had might be related to spinal issues? Anyone had them....

BTW, no way was I going to approach a physician with this question unless I was absolutely incapable....first thing they are supposed to do for "dizzy" complaints is pull drivers licenses...I'm responsible enough not to drive with any possible hindering condition. Did not need an open-ended suspension to deal with.

Dave, I hear you about not bringing up the dizziness as states are getting too bad about painting with a big brush to get people's driver's license pulled. I can't and won't drive after taking a dose of medication but that doesn't mean I can take short trips around town other times. Your dizzy spells could be low BP, ear problems, cervical spine problems, or as you said no alcohol for days. I hope the dizziness is a temporary thing and you get feeling better soon. I have found my dizzy spells generally last just a day or two so it is possible your spells will end soon.

The dizzy days seem to be behind me....one of those mysteries, although if I had to point to something, I almost would say inner ear because it did not bother me if I stayed perfectly still. About 1985 I had a bout of real dizzy days. I nearly threw-up many times before heading to the doctor (where I found out about the drivers license bit -- thankfully he just told me what he was supposed to do....he did not report me).

Anyway, a good flushing of my left ear and I was cured that time. This time was not so severe, but....

Then again, it could be spinal -- movement would/could be the trigger also. It's a strange world....

Dave, you are so right about it is a strange world spinies with CP live in. Our bodies have areas that are numb, parts that tingle and burn, and parts of our body that just hurt like hell. Just standing at the toilet following nature's course I notice how odd it feels to stand on feet that are numb and I can't really feel them until I smash them with something. I hope the dizziness was just an inner ear issue that cleared up as a result of the flushing of your ears. Nauseating dizziness isn't a fun way to spend a day.

DAve, I have some trouble with that too -- I have a cervical herniation, and I get some headaches, dizziness but my ears have never drained properly according to doctors -- so I have to frequently use peroxide or I've even used the sprayer on the kitchen sink and shot very warm water in each ear!!! Of course I didn't have the faucet on full blast or I'd break my eardrum. LOL But it does work.

I'm glad you're feeling better and the dizziness let up. That's an awful feeling. Keep us posted on how you're doing, ok? HUGS!!
