Join the "club," so to speak. Had a single level ACDF in 1998. After that, thanks to the wonderful compression in the spinal canal (down to 5 mm around C-5-6-7), the surgeon proposed a laminectomy. However, two others said "wait." So, some 15 years later, here I am still waiting and still in a pool full of pain.

But, I digress....it is pretty much impossible to answer your question without a lot more detail, and even then, it varies widely....three to six months is the average, however...

Leon, welcome to our forum. HellBound is right we need more info but it is an individual thing as we all heal at different rates. If minimal work was done and the surgeon didn't have to be too agressive I would anticipate that you could return to work in 8 weeks. Your recovery symptoms will still linger as people seem to deal with them for quite a while but you should be out of the major pain in a couple of weeks. Surgeons often say the pain should be diminished right away and they are right but the surgical pain is severe enough that you may not notice for several weeks. Good luck with the healing and I hope the procedure really improves your condition.
