Carol, driving already? I waited until 6 weeks following surgery as I didn't trust my back or myself until then. Keep taking baby steps because if you reach for too much it sets you back and that is no fun. It is good to hear you are doing so well and I hope you continue to keep it up.

No, I havent started driving yet, they just said I could after a week if I felt up to it. I'm not gonna push it, but will drive when I am ready. I am still very stiff at this point and not completely off pain meds yet. I won't drive or do anything until I am past the point of being ready. My son has a neuro appt on wed and am hoping I can take him. He has epilepsy and can not drive, but will send him off on a bus if I am not fully up to driving. How have you been doing Mark? Carol, I have been struggling through the week but I know much of it is due to the work on the flooring. Penny and I are ready to finish it up this weekend as there are only few pieces to put down along with the tile under the washer, dryer, and sink. It is amazing how in just 10 years they have advanced the surgeries so we can return to activities so much quicker. It is hard to imagine that you are even thinking about yet you are close to being able to drive. I am glad they have advanced so much as recovery time used to take so long and seemed like wasted time. Glad to hear you're doing so well. Don't push it. You will recover in time. How quickly you're improving gives me hope that there will be some relief after fusion. I was told that I needed the neck fused 5 years ago but I was able to finally get the symptoms under control a couple of years ago. The situation has changed for the worst.Comment

Mark..Remember the words u told me? "take it easy". I'm sure it will look nice and be a great accomplishment when your floor is done, just be careful not to let it set you back any. I feel like I have been in slow motion the past 2 days. Am completely worn out from nothing, but probably because I am still unable to eat much of anything. My husband says I am looking like a skeleton(I think he is right). All the protein shakes and vitamins aren't enough for weight gain. But I am still pretty much pain free, down to 2 pain pills a day. I think the driving will have to wait for awhile. I have a coworker that had acdf 2 levels on this past Friday and she isn't doing so well. Her pain is tremendous in her head, neck, back and arms. She had the same surgeon as I did. So, this shows not all recovery is the same. She may end up healing quicker than me in the long run. Nice to read your posts again........really look forward to it:o
Newcervie...Are you going to need surgery soon too? I was a nervous WRECK before mine, but was more or less told that I had to have it done, URGENTLY. So, I didnt have a whole lot of time to give it much thought. I will keep you in my prayers. Carol, I am not one to take it easy but I have learned to do better than I did in the past. The flooring is all down with only the moulding to do so it will be easier to take it easy. At least the protein shakes are good for your throat and gives you the vitamins and minerals you need even if it isn't as many calories you need. It is amazing how much our surgeries take out of us. I was always shocked at how out of shape I felt during recovery. Eventually you start to get the energy back and recovery gets easier. Carol, I'm so happy to hear your recovery is going well and you feel pretty good, all things considered. Keep taking it easy, that slo-mo will get a little faster each day :)-Fused L3-S1 (3 surgeries, last one 1-12-11)

Haven't been here to check on stuff in a couple days, been extremely wiped out. The meds I am on for migraine prevention(caused by the spinal stenosis) are for blood pressure and turned out mine was very low. Also, was not getting even close to enough food in me. So, am again getting some energy back. Where is Joe and how is he doing? Sorry many of you have been having sleepless nights, seems to be the cycle with these darn spines!!! To bold specific words in the signature, you type "[/B]" before and after the word. I suspect there's a button that places "[/B]" around the word but I don't remember as it's been awhile since I played around with the settings.Comment
