Dingle Berries?
Hi Kat,
Is that the term you were searching for? That's what my neighbor called 'em. I thought it was hysterical. Little dry poops hanging delicately off the rear end of your precious one.
When my aunt was deathly sick with Ovarian cancer and new to her home in Florida, I went to the shelter to find her a cat after she survived her brutal surgery plus a month in the hospital. They were going to start chemo & I felt she really needed fuzzy company since she always donated to ASPCA but didn't want to keep a cat at her NYC condo since she traveled so much. Now she was settled in a bigger place with a walled-in garden and screened porch. I'd never been to shelter before, so it was rather shocking to me.
I found a big fuzzy who insisted on head-butting my hand and following me around. Then there was a skinny younger one who looked like my sister's grey Korat & she was quite active, jumping up on cat trees & getting my attention. I just could not decide, so I went home and told my aunt about them in detail. She looked pleased & decided we should get both so they could keep each other company when she had to go to the local hospital for her three day chemo treatments. We named the little one Sasha, since she'd always wanted a Russian Blue, and the half-Coon was already named Suki, which is Japanese for "love".
Sasha was the dominant one, an eager tiny lizard chaser, while Suki would hang back till she thought one was dead & then it would promptly bite her on the leg with its little parrot-type beak. After which, she would give them their distance till her curiosity caught up with her again. Suki had very long hair, light grey and white, enormous head with heavy whiskers, wide-spread ears, & big tufts of fur between her toes. Her narrow nails grew rapidly into a circle & she was a tough one for tootsie trims. All that fur and its many underlayers got easily matted, till the vet said to bring her in for a buzz cut over her rear haunches since trying to cut out the mats was painful to her owners and to her.
We got them in 1988, so they have both passed on to kitty heaven now, but they did such valiant jobs while they were here. Ok, now I'm tearing up. More tales of the twosome next time.
