Ok I tweaked the 10 most recent threads to include the forum :) Agate the links you mentioned have always been at the top of the pages, I made sure to copy them over from the archives. I also removed the 2 empty sections (history and future) at least until I can write them up
Question: Why can't I post links or pictures?
Question: Why can't I have a signature, avatar, or profile picture?
Question: What's wrong with my account?

Answer: You are in the "registered users" user group. This group is very limited in what it can do. This will annoy spammers to no end Just keep posting once you have been registered for 30 days and have made 11 posts your account will be "unlocked".

It's really easy to put someone on ignore and it's strongly recommended that you do so with people who's posts you don't like.

    Step 1 - log in
Step 2 - click on the "settings" link
Step 3 - click on the "edit ignore list" link on the left side of the screen
Step 4 - type (or paste if you copied and pasted it) the username of the person you want to ignore
Step 5 - click the "ok" button on the right of the screen

Easy peasy and will lower your blood pressure. One important note though, this won't hide quoted posts. It's an oversight on the developers part and it's not an easy thing to "fix." So if someone quotes someone you have ignored, you'll see the quote.

Alternatively when you click on a person's name and view their profile page, underneath their avatar, there is a option that says, "Ignore this person". Click that link and then click the yes button.

Oops! I shouldn't even try to discuss what is visible on the screen because my PC has all kinds of special settings on it to enlarge things, and I tend to forget that I'm not always seeing what others are seeing!

Sure enough--I found the Medical Dictionary and PubMed links when I changed my Zoom setting down to 50%. My apologies.

        ((((agate))))

That happens to me too, when I use my Zoom feature. I can see things better, but I also miss things that are out of my monitor's view. Glad you figured it out. I use those links frequently, especially Drug Info.

          Past vs. Present

When i was on here much much more, i always went to FF after MS forum. What i liked there was the debating on issues, policies, Mike's quick brain...but you could "duke it out" there rather than on your own health forum.

That was the place to do it, not get it mucked up with your own disease.

I hadn't visited the new Home page until today. I usually just go to my own forum. I had no desire to visit the old one. This one seems more practical and more attractive.

In past incarnations I did on occasion visit the forum on Spirituality and Cultures (both now gone).

Rose and Agate, do you use the "biggie style" or the vB4 default? The biggie style has bigger bolded text almost every where (some text is still "standard" sizes but will one day grow up to be like the rest of the pages ) and should be much easier to read.

Parsi those forums really weren't that active anymore and were left out. But like any of the other forums that were left out, they can be brought back if enough people show interest in doing so :)

I like the home page. I like seeing what people have posted recently in other threads because it may be sideways applicable to my brain or my physical self. I also REALLY like seeing the latest Medline updates . I think the Medine Articles as well as articles from other Neuro Journals can liven up BT's Facebook page.

oops! It took me awhile to realize I always use home page-just didn't realize it. so my vote needs to change from never to always. I've found some of the forums interesting that I would never have gone to before.

                      I also use biggie style.

and thanks for showing the forum on 10 most recent threads.

now can I have a new brain??

I may not be the typical Biggie-style user because I have all kinds of special settings in connection with the resolution and fonts on my computer.

But with the Zoom at 100% I see a two bars across the top but the second one isn't readable because part of the upper bar is merged with it. The part of the blue bar that says PRIVATE MESSAGES, ARCADE, SEARCH FORUMS, and ARCHIVES doesn't show up either. If I mouse over the second row, I can get COMMUNITY, FORUM ACTIONS, and QUICK LINKS to show up.

At 75% I get some of the second line, and with 50% I'll get what is probably all of it, including PUB MED and DRUG INFO.

Also, at 100% there is no LAST POST BY column on the right, and the dates for the most recent posts show up but not the times (on the left). I can get these to show up at 75% but then the print is too small to read comfortably.

                          Home page visitation

Now that you mention it, i do check it out everytime I log-on. I'm a sporadic internet user though. I think this site is the "Cadillac" of forum sites.

Hi Mike, I looked at the home page when BT first came back after its long absence. Now I never look at it because it has not changed (with the exception of the live feed on the right of the most recent posts). I know everyone on your team is killing themselves to get this site, especially with the new server, but you asked for opinions so here you are with my recent thoughts about the home page: It's static and here's an idea to keep it interesting.... Have featured neuro condition (the more dynamic with photos, videos, interviews etc as possible). Feature some posts such as "Post of the week" so that readers can get a taste of other forums ('fora'). Most people (me included) just go to our home forum, in my case Child Neurology. Perhaps some registered users could profile their history and relationship with Braintalk (with pix). The other factor is that the Facebook page could be better utilized to drive people to the Home page with new features every week or month or whatever. Anyway, it's all work, but those are my ideas. I'm glad you're back online! Donna

I don't even see a "Home" tab. Using the biggie style it goes "Forums, New Posts, Calender, vB FAQ, BTC Inc TOS, Private Messages, Arcade, Search Forums, Archives". I also use the newest version of Firefox and sometimes Internet Explorer and I don't see the "Home" tab in either :(

There should be a Home tab to the left of the Forums tab. Have you tried tinkering with the zoom level? It's at the bottom right of my screen (using IE 7). It's also available under View in the IE toolbar on top of the screen.
