ok, I won't nag. I know how it feels to get nagged to death when I already know all these things and am trying to do my best to correct them.

I will say I care about you and want so bad for you to feel better. You are way too young to have to suffer so much all the time. You beat rings around me even when I was younger and I stayed busy all the time raising kids and working.
When you post I know you are still alive and want to stay alive and I want to help you stay that way. Call on me and I'll come running. Well, maybe hobbling along.

Chris, hope you are feeling better! here's another suggestion for you: try a gluten free diet. my housemate has had IBS forever & he swears he's doing better gluten free. just a thought.

you seem to be caught in the doc merry go round. well I have faith in you to get on them & force some action.

now about the weird pap smear? what the heck does that mean? it was either ok or not. innsist on talking to a real doc would be my advice. sooner the better!

Ah my Jo you could never be a nag. I know every thing you say is said with love and concern so to me you never seem to be nagging.

Pati I am being monitored for cervical cancer and it has been a few years since I had my last LEEP because my paps have been coming back normal since the last one. I guess this time they must have found a few questionable cells in my smear. Usually some precancerous epithelials come back then they decide when they will do the next LEEP.

I have been saying that if I have to have a third LEEP I would just ask to them for a hysterectomy but I am not up for that right now and a LEEP is a whole lot easier.

The odd thing is that I actually am bleeding these last two menstrual cycles and I haven't actually had any kind of flow for the last couple of years. So I am interested in seeing what the tests say.

loop electrosurgical excision procedure. They knock me out and then use a thin electric charged wire loop to shave the cancerous cells off of my cervix. I have had two so far and they were like within like a 2 yr period and I swore that if I had to have it done again then they may as well do a hysterectomy. I am in no condition for that yet but geez just how thick is my cervix and how much is left after the last two.

Has anyone had a hysterectomy? Did they leave in an ovary or did you get those removed too? Any major hormonal changes?

My dear Christina, I'm sorry you're going through so much right now, your plate is over flowing. Hysty can be done w/wo removing ovaries. I had mine left in, went thru normal change of life; also keeps your estrogen level at normal levels. Just no periods anymore :) You have lots of ducts that come together, sorta, around where your gall bladder was....one of them could be blocked or starting to block for some reason; would think a simple ultra sound could detect something, also cheaper then 'rays'. You have/had gall bladder, liver, kidney...anything else, can't recall at moment --- somehow I believe connected to intestines??? Anyone out there please correct me.
I know of people that have had their gall bladder out that still have trouble after for years like it was never removed.
Hone sure hope you're feeling better soon. Believe me I don't go to doc only if absolutely necessary....think this is necessary for you sweetie....one more vote for 'yes, go'. You might want to be referred to a nutritionist to help w/IBS; mine kicks up once in awhile; got good advice from her, list of do's/don'ts.....some good sites online also.

I had my gallbladder out in 2000, and though not as frequent as it used to be I still get right upper quadrant pain episodes that can bring me to my knees. The surgeon thought that I might have a blocked duct so I had an MRI - nada.
Apparently it's not uncommon for a person who's had gallbladder surgery to experience that pain. Almost every person I've spoken with, who's had the surgery has had it. I agree with the others though, get checked out.

Suze from all that I am finding yes most people have issues and pain after having gallbladder removed. Great lol. I didn't even develop IBS until I had mine removed. Never really had any issues except for gerd.

Kat I will most definitely be asking for them to leave the ovaries. I have a horrible time with my mental illness and my hormones and my psych has already been telling me that my birth control pills are going a long way towards keeping me on somewhat of an even keel with my PMD. Help....I of course do intend to ask my new doctor this but I want everyones opinion as I know nothing. My only knowledge is all this woman works wre not used to have a baby so I could care less about it, LOL. So even at 66, does a woman still need her ovaries? I have an appointment coming up and probably surgery to remove some cysts and such and had thought they would just take it all when they did surgery. Humm, I fall asleep reading on the computer even our interesting stuff on Braintalk. Not much hope of me doing research

Chris,everyone I know that has had their gall bladder removed has had issues since. doesn't help you one bit but know you are not alone! as for everything else? hope you get some relief soon & I'd ask alot of questions before any type of surgery myself.

I'm not sure how to explain this, so I'll just jump in anyway. One of my neighbors had a hysterectomy years ago & now everything else is caving into the empty space left behind. Bladder problems, anal problems, vaginal, you name it. She had some kind of surgical mesh put in, but now the companies are recalling certain types for god knows what reason. She's currently going thru PT to strengthen interior muscles & had to find a PT specialist for this. She's normally a very proper kind of Southern belle type, but did I get an earful of colorful terms for anatomical parts that I wasn't so familiar with! [That's the regional terms, not the anatomy.]

After removal of her ovaries, a woman’s cholesterol, particularly the bad LDL cholesterol, rises and she is at increased risk for suffering a heart attack. Other side effects include depression, osteoporosis, and the drop in testosterone causes loss of assertiveness, muscle strength and interest in making love.
The aging ovaries continue to produce certain amounts of estrogen and androgens for at least ten years after the start of menopause. Androgen deficiency affects bone loss, libido, muscular and fat distribution, the sense of well being, energy, and appetite.
Preservation of the ovarian production of estrogen and androgen, albeit reduced compared to the reproductive years, may contribute significantly to a woman’s health.

there is less than a 1% chance a woman will get ovarian cancer if she keeps her ovaries, provided there is no history of that type of cancer in the family and her ovaries are generally healthy. there is only a 5% chance that cysts removed from ovaries will come back if the ovaries are left after that kind of procedure.

just make sure your doctor knows you want to keep your ovaries!

i haven't had any major probs since my gallbladder was removed about 4 years ago. sure, if i overeat, like at thanksgiving, i feel sick...but then i also felt that way before i had my gallbladder out. sometimes i will feel a little pang there that quickly goes away. your liver makes bile to digest your food and it goes a slightly different route than if you had a gallbladder. i tend to think livers get a bit touchy when you have fatty foods. i really watch what i eat because i do not want to gain the weight back that i lost. occasionally i will have a treat, but then i cut back somewhere else. this seems to keep my gallbladder-less body happy .

i am getting antsy taking it easy. i am actually reading a book! i can do light housework now, so i'm doing laundry. stairs are ok. can't go back to my hustle class for another 2 and a half weeks.

okay...back to the book :).

I guess. I had an endoscopy last August. You'd think a gastroenterologist would know to look for stuff like that. I'll go look that up.
