I'm checked in to the hotel across the way from the hospital. Will be able to take the walkways and tunnels all except for about 50 feet in a parking ramp. So the lovely temps here won't be a problem. Check-in is for 5am tomorrow. Just starting to get anxious about this...I'm sure family will be biting off the fingernails during the procedure tomorrow.

      Hi Travis,

I wish you only the best of luck and I will be praying for you. Send some of that warm air up to NY we sure could use it especially after all the snow and wind we had yesterday (Sunday) .
Here's wishing you a Happy Valentines Day. I wish you only the best and May God Bless You!

Travis, You will be in my thoughts and prayers. I recall some of the going to the hospital and walking out. Some while there, but it is like a dream. Do keep us posted as best as you can! I think it goes without saying that Braintalk's epilepsy forum is cheering you on! Tattoo

Wonderful Travis! Good to see you are back with us! Memory got you back here. I recall that headache! Oh yeah! It was the first think I wax aware of once I awakened back in my room. I immediately thought I had a horrible sinus headache not even thinking that I just had brain surgery! On thing to start thinking about is what you might like to study once you get home. School does wonders for us post op! All the new pathways that can be forged without the meds and the misfiring cells getting in the way of learning provides such opportunity for us, and school is the fertile ground for us to grow in. Glad things seem to have gone well. Keep us posted. Tattoo

              Hi Travis,

I'm glad to hear that everything went well. Just like you I had a wicked headache after my surgery. One thing I found that helped me with the headache was cutting back on the caffeine. You take good care
of yourself and get plenty of rest. I wish you only the best and May God Bless You!

Travis is now at home with a headache. I imagine it's a monster.

After having pain caused and needing to go to the local doctors, or down to the University where they did the surgery it was a quick choice. The pressure I still have that should be almost over was found to be caused by fluid build up under a muscle in the brain. So a few hours, then the CT scan. A quick talk with the surgeon I only needed to make a modification and put the mattress up at a tilt. Sleep was quite an improvement from before.

Still on a sizable dose of the pain medication, but hopefully will be able to reduce and get off it this week and be on over the counter's.

Thankfully my range of jaw is not reduced substantially as had been a concern. A few things taste slightly different, but not substantially.

Eyes still seem sensitive to light more than before. Can't even wear sunglasses due to the swilled head so that doesn't help.

Stitches have not yet hurt, but based on last Decembers stitches I know they will itch. They did at 2 weeks back then. I have to go a full 3 weeks this time until removal.

                    Hi Travis,

It sounds like things are going pretty good for you. I had a lot of spinal fluid in my head after the surgery and I felt a lot of pressure also. The fluid began to drain out of my ears and I was much better.
After my surgery everything was dark, it was like wearing a pair of sunglasses in the house but things got better in time. As far as my taste that changed completely I don't like a lot of foods I used to like
and I now eat food that I never liked. I had 42 staples pulled out of my head I'm glad that you only have to deal with stiches.

My prayers and thoughts are with you each and every day. It was great to hear from you today. I wish you only the best and May God Bless You!

Travis -- my surgery caused such swelling I could not wear my 'regular' glasses. A fast trip to my OD solved that .... my glasses were 'bent', no cost, so they were comfortable.

The CT showed nothing of worry. Had a horrible nights sleep in there (maybe I should have claimed MRSA to get a room for myself) with the other bed snoring, and watching the race until it was over.

Stacked a second layer of wedges under my bed so I'm tilted more to help with drainage.

Otherwise, nothing new, no changes. Just a snow storm thats sposta bring about a foot of snow.

Again, thanks for the concerns and prayers. That sure helps.

                            Hi Travis,

How are you doing today? I feel sorry for you having a roomate that snores. I know after my surgery I couldn't sleep that well because the nurses were always coming in my room to check me over blood pressure, temp. etc.
I would just fall asleep and the nurse would come in to check on me. If I may ask are you able to sleep on your side at all? I had to sleep on my back for 6 months Drs. orders. What really bothered me a lot was how the surgery
caused back pain as well as headaches.

You take it easy and get ready for the snow. I'm under a snow advisory until Thursday morning we're supposed to get snow, sleet and freezing rain starting today (Wed.). I sure hope the storm misses you.

I wish you only the best and May God Bless You! I will keep you in my prayers.

Very difficult to sleep on side. I now have the "wedge" people can buy at Bed Bath and Beyond, so it's nearly impossible to sleep on my side.

I think we already got a good 6-8 inches and it's still falling. Looks like my area may get 12. Just an hour west, Alexandria MN already reported a good foot and it's still falling. My nurse is able to make it around, so I expect to see him later. Not sure if the OT and PT will be able to make it tomorrow due to the schedule being put on hold and reactivated a day later.

We finally had a snow storm. Last time was early in the winter, what, November? And only had a piddly 2 inches another day. so it's no longer a black winter for us.

                                Hi Travis,

I'm sorry to hear that it's difficult to sleep on your side, I know it bothered me for a long time also but I hated sleeping on my back to since I was used to sleeping on my left side.

The storm didn't hit us that bad we got about 3 inches of snow with some freezing rain earlier today (Wed.) but then it changed over to all rain and most of the snow and freezing rain
are now gone. I'm sure you heard that a few states got hit with tornadoes today and more are on the way for Ohio, PA. and other states along the east coast. I'm now on weather alert
if the storms do come in to work emergency communications with my ham radio. I hope the tornadoes don't go up your way or hit anyone else. Here's wishing you only the best and
                                May God Bless You!
