Guys went out this afternoon to do a stretch of river that was very low when David did it Saturday but with all the rain yesterday and last night was fast and swollen. David called me when I expected they would be back and they'd had "a couple of mishaps and had lost a paddle. There were only two in town for sale ($100 each) but I was able to buy a used one for $25 from a place that rents kayaks. He was surprised the guys were out on the water. "We haven't put anyone on the water today. It's not safe with all the rain we had yesterday (nearly 3")." Went and found the guys (both with lots of scrapes and bloody clothing) then went and got the car with the racks and picked them up a good mile and a half before their planned take out. They should be back in a few minutes.
I'm a bit worn out today with the extra walking and sight seeing we've been doing with our friends who have never been to this area. Even with that, I feel more well than I have in a very long time. Sunny and breezy and 68 here now.
